Beijing Honeymoon trip

(This blog I have draft it since aft the trip and it should b post last year, but due to many pic need to upload here, so delay till today… )

Beijing trip was simply sweet n unforgettable. So share with you here more about every places we have visited, and what are the little things happen along the trip, so that next time u go u can have an outline as reference :)

8 days 7 nights - Beijing/ Tianjin/ Chengde (28-May-05 to 5-Jul-05)
27/6 – Assemble at 10.30pm – counter C15, boarding time 23:45, flight MH370 time 00:30

DAY 1 – 28/6/05

Touch down at the Beijing Capital International Airport at 06:35. We were stay in Hotel JingMinShi. Due to early reach, Beijing local tour guide let us check in hotel and take rest before we go for our program of the day.


Summer Palace – visit for the whole day. This is the biggest royal garden in China. It forms by Longevity hill and Kun Ming lake.


LiuLiChang Street – this is a cultural street, where u can find many Chinese paint art, brushes, stone craving name stamp and other cultural item.

DAY 2 – 29/6/05
In these 8 days, every morning 6.30am morning call, 7am break fast, and 7.30am go out.


Pearl factory - they show us the complete shell with pearl inside and explain to us how to get a good pearl. Proceed to show us their showroom which they sells pearl necklace, bracelets, and other accessories. Pearl face cream and also pearl powder for consume also available there. Here can bargain for low price.



Temple of Heaven – The garden outside was occupied by plenty of retired old folk/ housewives, because there was many tree and breeze. They gather there to sing, play taichi, cha-cha, jazz dance and also playing a kind of ball game called LiuLiQiu (pic top left). Temple of Heaven is the place where the Ming & Qing Emperors went to worship Heaven and pray for good harvest.


After lunch, we continue to visit ShenShaHai and its new Bar Street. We have an extraordinary travel style, with trishaw ride along the old Beijing Street. This place full of those old residence, which was stay by Emperor of Qing & Ming. All were covered by brick wall. Not being renovated, those wall and doors, still stay the same since last decade. We not going in to look at it just pass by. End of that, was the Bar Street, pubs only active at night, here can find lots of Mat Salleh.


JingShan Hill – went on top of a small temple can see the whole view of Forbidden City. Cross over the underground subway, there we reach the entrance of Forbidden City or Palace Museum.




Forbidden City or Palace Museum – This is the place where the emperor stays, attended affair of the state and also gather his officer. Exit from the Forbidden City was to TianAnMen Square. Very very big, size like a few of football field. We walked cross the square; there was the Republics Memorial and China Millennium Memorial.


At night after dinner in JingDu Hotel, we went to WangFuJing night market and a shopping complex there. Tour guide advised not to buy those hawkers stall food, as it was not clean. Tong-An shopping complex, there hav a departmental store and some shop lots, this place buy things no need to bargain, all fix price. Out of the shopping complex there are also some shop fashion stall and accessories stall.

DAY 3 – 30/6/05


Jade Palace – This is also another tourist oriented place. A person in charge there lead us tour around the jade and agaté showroom and show us the jade craving work. End of the visit, was the place where u can buy jade. No bargaining here, all jade are fix price.



Great Wall – This was the main point of going to China. Great Wall, reputed as wonder in the world architectural history. There always a saying, “Visit Great Wall be a True Man”. The part of Great Wall we going was called Badaling. Step on the world wonders, the feel was very2 great and very impress to see the Great Wall. Many ppl in the morning, many uneven steps and steep stairs, you need go slow and help by pull the holder all the way up, try not to look up further when u go up or dun stay and look down when u go down, coz u will fear of height. When u climb always remember dun block the way. Took many pics there, and also buying from those photos taking salesperson. Those were nicely laminated which done like a certificate. We only have 1 ½ hours there, so we can’t go really far, how far u go then that’s how you come down using the same way, there was no way coming down from another end.

Lunch was at the restaurant next to the jade just now. Aft lunch we went to the Crystal showroom next to it. These 3 places all are next to each other (Jade, restaurant, crystal), I called it tourist oriented.


Crystal Palace – another kind of nature stone, as usual a person frm there explain to us and bring us around, a performance demonstrate to us on how to differentiate a true crystal, clarity of a crystal and what are the power of crystal - pink for love, yellow for money..etc.. end of it, he bring us to their sales showroom. Many shining and fine work of crystal accessories, some really done like a piece of diamond. Price quite ok. No bargain also.


Ming Tomb – here was the 13 imperial tombs of Ming Dynasty. Very big garden also. Stone made big joystick pot and candle stand, tall and bigger than a human. Here believe that the died body was not there anymore; it was being dig off during war time from underground. What we saw now was the mock-up, which exactly the same like last time. Upon going down to underground tomb, we need scan to make sure we are not bring in any harmful equipment. Walked about fifth floor downward. Feel cold ~~~ phew! High humidity. Wall and floor are wet. The brick, which build the roof of this underground, are like marble stone. I was think that if were only few ppl there walking, the feel u will like ….you know la..hahah…since now this is a tourist spot so there was many ppl too. Inside store those imperial things they used when they are living. Some way are block and wet, too wet not allow ppl to walk in. Of coz since it was block, it was very dark and hav some kind of smell coming out. In China, even the ground heat is high during daytime but the soil temperature was cold and humidity is very high. Everything inside was made with stone, many stone doors framed up. Walking up to go out of the underground was the tomb block located. Very tall stone block.

BouShuTang – is a Chinese herbal medicine cream manafacturer, we reached their showroom. A doctor there introduced us this wonder cream and some other products. This cream named “Bao Fu Ling” was good at burn injured and it was been used in hospital now. Can’t deny that this cream was very good, coz I used it before. Since he wan to prove that the cream works, he show us by burning a steel stick and he hold on it..ouch…look at it also pain.., then he spread the cream over his hand . It was real hand flesh show, his hand not wearing another things to protect. Per bottle RMB 230 for small one, big one I forgot how much. Of coz here fix price stall. Upon end of the show he recommend us to visit their doctor if got any health problem, as they have some other kind of herbal food for body. End of the day no one visiting them, aft the show we go off.


Kung Fu show at Red Theater – This was international rated. Show title “Chun Yi The Legend of Kungfu”. It was a stage performance, which brings out a story line. Very great show again. All botak-botak guy/ monk.


Chang-An Street – we passed by this well-known street..and look at the night view of this street with all the building lighted up. You can find all the country major financial institutes, big companies and some 5 star hotel all located here. Also, we passed by the TianAnMen.

DAY 4 – 1/7/05

Bell Museum – the temple got its name from the huge bell, cast in the reign Ming emperor Yongle. Many many bells, the biggest bell was as height as the temple and the bell body got many small small word craves on it. It only knock 1 time throughout the year. It knock a day before CNY by follow Chinese calendar. Once it knock, it knock knock 108 times, the bell echo was travel few miles away. Knocking bell meaning to cast away things not good and bring wealth…etc..Again show time. A Sifu there in the temple continue explain to us what bell echo good to us. Aft that he used his extra ordinary power by covering his eye by asking the audience to write some number on the board and he can read out the number we write correctly. Aft that was selling time, who wants to bring back the good bell, he will mumble to the bell like gaining power on it then sell it to u. Aft that a person in charge there show us their water art gallery, here u can buy Chinese paint art.


Beijing Zoo – we came here to see the country precious animal – Panda. We saw 4 of them, very cute. We bought Panda shirt and 20K gold panda coin for remembrance.


ChaoWaiMen – A shopping centre, here u buy things u need to bargain up to 70%. If u wan to buy then only u ask the price, they won’t stick their price there. A few times I asked the price, just to know what their rate roughly, then they’ll keep on asking u many question, which was very disturbing. So once u dun wan immediately u have to leave the shop fast to avoid they haunt u. First round visit not bought anythings. Here sells a lot of imitation product which is 80% real and good quality, far better than out Petaling St. one. Each floor are separated which have fashion floor, shoes, accessories and others.


YaXiu Street Shopping Area – this is a trade fashion mall. Like our Sg. Wang here, but their shop lots is much more smaller. Buying things here need to bargain too. For clothes selling at China everywhere they don’t hav fitting room unlike if u go departmental store or shopping complex. Saw many bargain scene, how foreigner fight for good price. Well, aft all it was tired to talk so much bargaining with them, that’s why I not buy many. One item can have many price level, depends on how low u can go, and how low they can giv u, also u need to waste many effort and time to talk and talk. Even their local ppl buying things there also need to bargain, but I think local and local they won’t open high price for u to bargain. Brandon bought a racing shirt there, first price given was RMB380, we directly tell them what is our price, we ask for RMB80, they not allow, so I let her to go low her price, she giv 250 then 200 we shake our head and plus talk and talk. Aft that she go low again 180, 150, 120 and finally she said the lowest can giv was RMB100. So at last we deal it. We bought it at RMB100, which we think that’s still reasonable. The best u can bargain when the sale person chase aft u go then u even can get lower. So u said tiring or not for buying 1 thing.


Confucious Temple – This great ppl was being praise by Yuan, Ming and Qing emperor.



Ice light craving – whereby those ice-craft they put light inside. Need to wear thick jacket to go in. Very big ice craving model and some have color on it. The ice craving model we found was TianAnMen, 12 Zodiacs, Castle, Snow White and 7 Dwarfs, dragon, Buddha statue..etc…


Acrobatics Show – at a Theater hall. Show by young kids and some teens. That night the crowd is less only our group trip ppl. Even ppl less watching it, but they did it very seriously. Great show too, this theater hall was newly open.

DAY 5 – 2/7/05

ZhengYangMen – in FengShui here is the place of dragon head which been say is a good fengshui place for leading the Beijing city. Now this place have been set as a place of introduce and selling “PiXiu”. This is a creature, which China ppl very believe it. It is a creature with Dragon head, cow horn, lion body, horse feet. It only takes all in but not out. That’s why it treat as a Fengshui item, it can correct fengshui and bring wealth. Everywhere in Beijing, especially the financial building entrance, government dept entrance, Emperor place all u can see this. Huge one, one at left and one at right. The person incharge explain this “PiXiu” thing said our Genting Highland have one. All in no out…The person also explain to us not whoever also can own a big one and put for fengshui, it depends that whether ur wealth match with it. If not u’ll bring trouble. For small one can giv u peace…of coz this thing is sell there, from big to tiny. He also let us touch on the small “PiXiu”, when u touch also got technique, not simply touch. He said touch from the ear down to beard then go to body and back then grab it and out it in ur pocket. I dunno how much this thing can help, I didn’t touch it. Simply because I dun believe at all.


Underground City – was dig by the people who used to hide themselves. Inside it was cold, wet and again humidity is very high, it is higher than Underground at Ming Tomb. This was being build under MaoTzeTong rules. This is a very big underground city which contain of hospital, library, cinema, food and weapon storeroom..etc…since it is so big inside the person in-charge who lead us in, keep on remind us that him closely, coz it is very easy to get lost inside and he will not able to find u. Beside having all those facilities, underground there also build way to go Tianjin City, Great Wall, Forbidden City…etc, but all need to walk there, not travel by any transport. Some need to walk up to few days and nights to reach. Upon exit the underground city, there was a silk showroom which sells silk blanket, cheong sam clothes and accessories. They show us how the silk produce from the worm (Chan Choong)..last time when ppl stay underground they used those silk produce blanket to get warm when it is cold and get chill when that is hot. They not allow to take photo inside, so only taken at the entrance.


Women Street – it is actually a shopping complex sell all kind of ladies stuff, manicure, pedicure, fashion, accessories from head to toes…95% was ladies stuff…here u need to bargain when u buy things…again as I said no trying when buying…out if this complex there was a street also selling fashion and food court…Women Street – ladies paradise..Guys u went there sure bored u down.

After lunch we traveled for 5 hours to go ChengDe. By the time we reach there already 8pm.


Check-in hotel (pic above) and have dinner there. After dinner we just went to the town for foot and body massage. RMB100 for 1 ½ hours. We’ve been arrange to have a suite that night which cost RMB1600 per night. Anyway I dun feel comfortable enough, as the whole hotel feel cold, very quiet, too big, many Roman art pic and design, less ppl, room corridor lights was dim dark, no lift, staircase was a bit dark also, some stairway door was open widely but very dark, not switching on light. When I step in my suite, very big again, with sofa set and TV, mahjong table, and bedroom area with TV also…things are like a bit dusty...may b long time no ppl stay in. I was hoping the morning come faste...very scaryyy ahh...

DAY 6 – 3/7/05


LiZheng Gate Summer Villa Mountain Resort – This is largest existing Royal garden, was built in 1703 with an area of 5.64 million m², It blend the charms of both South & North China. The Qing emperors used to handle state affairs and spend holidays here. Nowadays it has become a famous tourist resort in China. In 1994, it was inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO. Bi Shu Shan Zhuang many lakes and garden. There got a few Mongolian Yurts. One of that only allows to enter but it has been set up like a shop to sell local souvenir.


Potala Palace – One of the eight outer temples. Also known as Lamma Temple. From far can see The QingChuiFeng.


GuanDi Temple – Buddhist praying GuanDi idol here. Big GuanDi statue here.

After lunch we traveled 5 hours again back to Beijing city.

ChaoWaiMen – Since we still got time the local tour guide let us go there again for shopping. This time we successfully bought 2 bags and 2 watches, with good price, after bargain and bargain.

DAY 7 – 4/7/05

Morning after breakfast, traveled 2 hours to Tianjin town.



TianJin – is one of the import and export hub of China. Many manufacturer set up their factory here. We visited the Cultural Street, Fashion Street (lowest pic) and Food Street. The local special meal here was GouBuLi dumpling, the taste was not so tasty, is something like our “sang yook bou” but just smaller, ours one taste better.


"Jing Fa" brand Cloisonne – also called enamel, made in Beijing. This is a handicraft enterprise. They produce vase and other display item. The manufacture of Cloisonne Ware requires for rather elaborate and complicated processes in nature. The main working processes are base-hammering, copper-wire curving, soldering, enamel-filling, enamel-firing, polishing, gliding etc.


Tea house – a tea drinking showroom, they treat us drink 4 types of tea and also teach us how to play with the Chinese tea-set and style of drinking each type of tea.

DAY 8 – 5/7/05
6am morning call, 6.30am breakfast. 7am we left the hotel to airport. Along the highway as usual traffic start congested. Carefully look at the faces of the city. Reach airport at 8am. 8.30am our luggage check-in. 8.45am check-in wait at departure hall, so unlucky that, during custom scan of belonging my 3 can bottle of almond drink being open to check. L so no choice since he opened it we hav to finish it up else have to throw away..too bad thought to brought back for my family to taste it. Just shopping awhile at the duty free and bought 2 magazines back.

Boarding time 09:10, flight MH371 time 09:40. Bye-Bye Beijing…

What are the things need to take care when you are in China?
Since we are tourist, those roadside seller will wait u at the exit of those tourist spot to sell u things..they will come to ask u 1 by 1 even u dun tend to buy they will still ask u, wan or not…tell u the price…if u r walking they will follow u walk together…once u buy from seller, other seller saw they will come n haunt u and ask u to buy from them sell u the same thing by giv u more cheaper price. When u sit in the bus waiting for others they will knock u at the window to show u their product and giv u hand sign…those things they sell normally are souvenir, they sell it at very low price. Some really worth buying. This seller appear everywhere, even u came out from restaurant aft lunch or dinner they are there to sell u things.

Fake RMB 50 note in green color are flow in the market. So, becareful when u get RMB50. It was green color, fake note also same color but the paper quality is different. To make sure u get the right note the “50” next to MouTzeTong head will have 2 colors when u look at it in straight way and turn to slide way. Dun think u can used away to RMB 50 easily, once the cashier know it is fake they will giv u back the note and ask for another one, they are smart enough to differentiate it. Also, becareful when they return change to u, make sure those note they giv are RMB. Normally those roadside seller or those haunt u buy thing they’ll do that. Tips: prepared more small note to buy things try not to pay them in big note, since things in China are cheap, big note are hardly used, unless if u buy expensive things.

2 months old Terry

Some updated about this cutie Terry. On 20th Jul. brought him to kiddie specialist for his 2nd month injection. Put him on the weighting scale, 6.1kg man! grow another 1.5kg. Meaning that he totally grow 3kg since born and tall 6cm. Oh boy! doc said his weight is ok but when I told those mum they get shock. I can't carry or rock him in my arm for long as he is getting more n more heavier, well...his is growing...thus u know aft this I will get firm arm with 'tikus'. It is nothing to do better than workout using dumbell. Even his dad also can't take him for long. Those who saw him before said he is cute n handsome :}

He loves to smile more when I talk to him and he is making more ooo and ahh ahh sounds and even ang-gu-gu now. His laugh also started got laughing sounds. It is not hard for me to make him laugh n smile in front of the camera. I feel happy with all his laugh n smiles.

He is very good in taking my command now like 'wait' (used when I'm about to make his milk), 'close your eye oi oi' (ask him to sleep), 'don't move changing now' (used when putting on his diapers) and 'quiet' (to stop/quiet down his cry or scream). All in all he is not giving much trouble taking care of him during day n night. So I got more time to clean the house, cook and even online.

After 1 month full in cooking for lunch n dinner, now can say my cooking skill is brush up a bit. I'm good in steam pork rib, fried vege and boiling soup. Not expect to do those hard cooking which take times yet like yong tau fu, stir fish,..etc...now all my cook need to b is fast n simple. So my cooking style is more to steam n fried.

Breastfeeding plan need to say bye-bye now..aft trying to pump n pump the milk is not gaining back. Got to giv up now. Sorry boy..

Since when it change...

Sunday, as usual went to church in the morning with Terry...he was that calm n happy attending church service.

Later in the afternoon we 3 went out to have late lunch at Plaza Mont Kiara. My last time there was 2 years ago. To me this place where suppose having those laptop ppl wifi-ing there or look 'high class' n rich ppl relaxing there with coffee, food n frens...n these ppl are normally hav good looking....hhmm...out of my expectation, when I was having my meal at Secret Recipe I saw many giant ladies lepak at the flea market...eem..may b I'm wrong or it was just coincidence I saw there are quite a number gua...hopefully it is not that way..hehe...ohh..since when this beautiful relaxing place with eye-catching chicks turn out this way. Aft meal not staying for long we go off.

Next, we heading to 1 Utama. On the way found this little monster making 'cake'. Once reached, I quickly clean n change him. Haha..first time using this restroom with baby changing room. Luckily manage to use it, coz I saw my cousin sis used before. Just pull down the hard fiber plastic attach at the wall then place baby on it. I'm not sure for other shopping mall restroom (not really notice baby changing room before this), but here in New Wing there are 3 baby changing room separately in male, female and handicapped restroom, which I think it is so touch n comfort for mummy/daddy needs. We continue shopping. Not walk into much shops, just heading to the one I wan to go. So, since aft having baby, my size change from 'M' to 'L', n more preferable to hav 'XL' now...duh! not dare to look at the mirror for long too in fitting room for my current body size -_-. Since current wardrobe almost all M size T I can't fit at all. Bought back 2 'L' size T (yeah, also bought 2 pants before this in 'L'). Hopefully it can serve current thirst for no-cloth-can-fit. I wan back my old figure aft 6 month...*finger cross* Going out with a baby not an easy task now. I no more using my trendy handbag since then, which fit in comb, mirror, tissue, lip gloss, lipsticks, lotion, parfume anymore, instead now sharing a big bag with all Terry stuff in it and all I hav only my purse n handphone to bring.

Terry boy just hav his right timing, once got into the car he only screamed for 'nen-nen'. Luckily need not to feed him in public. He just do not close his eye to sleep even I know he is tired. He just look around, pity his view only on the ceiling lamp when we place him in the stroller. Overall his behaviour is good n he is enjoy going out.

Once we reached home, place him in the bouncing net, without any crying he directly doze off. Half an hours later, wake up for milk then sleep again. His last call for 'nen-nen' at 10.30pm and my next feeding for him is morning 6.30am. So, imagine how tired this boy!

My day with Terry

Basically everyday my routine of taking care of baby is the same..since now i'm a 24/7 mom. As he growing up taking care of him is much more easier than the first month and now I can handle him more smooth, from bathing to cleaning to feed to nursing. Mid-nite wake was 1 time....and time of consumption also less than previous.

He is going to reach 2 months old next week...time flies, day aft day and it was just a blink...my day not really hard to pass..now I'm all alone taking care of baby...daytime no helper....mum just come n look for me aft a few days and stay for few hours ...the disadvantage is when I in the midst of cook or wash, he cries or screaming...there I hav to put down my work ...and run to carry or swing him...running in n out...the worst is if he is not sleep aft milk then I can't get my work done too and just nurse him to sleep...

Some progress growing of Terry...milk consumption 7-8 times...screaming n crying noise is getting louder now...started to smile and when talking to him he will like wan to response with some 'hhmm..ha...' sounds...he intend to putting his thumb into the mouth...that i always found his mitten are wet....

My breastfeeding consider stop now since 5th weeks...as I not putting him to breast and the milk is slowly dry out now...even put to pump, it not expressing much too...the main reason I do not wan to put to breast is becoz it is too messy. When I feeding him the left breast, the right side milk is dripping out....and baby n me is not comfortable when I put him at the right breast...I also do not hav the patient and his demand of consumption.

I hav voice this out to my church fren, she told me that it can gain back the milk if i wan...just to pump frequently say every 2 hours and not put to breast...so that it can take off my problem...I start trying now...hope it helps....but every 2 hours is just too fast....anyway i will try...reading the infant formula tin...saying 'Susu ibu adalah makanan terbaik untuk bayi' it was just like hitting hitting me to giv baby more breast milk than formula...and some advise of the benefits of breastfeeding, I hope that I still able to breastfeed him later...

Last Sunday, baby dedication at church. Pastor Suen and church committee prayed for baby and our family. Fullmoon food was served

All in a day

Baby is 1 month old now. Fullmoon lunch treat at restaurant with many relatives and friends atteneded and received lots of gift n wishes...

Me..birthday means a year older...my wishes for this birthday are baby healthy, less arguement and more understand baby n my need. No special celebration for me, as the lunch already cover half of the day and I also very tired aft celebration end. My birthday present was a 1.8k diamond ring.

Father's day... With baby here, Brandon is eligible to celebrate as a father now. Hopefully our son will grow as having his own personality and character which will lead him to a better one.

This Saturday, another round of fullmoon small party for our frens who come to visit baby and Sunday is at church.

Mum will leave me and baby soon. Aft that I will b fulltime mummy. Now I started to bath and change him. Manage to handle too, but a bit slow...{eeii...first time mummy ok...dun expect too high...very preasure also}...hopefully aft few round doing it will b ok...

Baby growing good, now his weight is 4.65kg, get heavy of 1.5kg since born. Weight is ideal acccording to his kiddie doc. and also got his 2nd dose Hep-B injection.

End of confinement

Yoo hoo...2 more days to go I will end my confinement period. I can go back my "normal" life. Eat and bath normal. This Friday I will go for my hair wash, scrub away all the dirt n oily feel and go for facial as this weekend is Terry fullmoon party, got to b nice nice to see ppl...been trying to fit back my pant n jeans..is no no way for me to fit in yet...body still not really back to shape yet...aikss..got to wear dress liow...

Currently my health almost back to normal and everyday hav been very tiring looking aft baby..last 2 days brought Terry to see doc, as his 'pandai-pandai' daddy mummy trying to switch his milk powder and makes his poo in watery green. Besides that he also catch a lot of gas (wind) in his stomach this makes his temper goes bad when he cry. Always at night during bedtime he will go extremely crazy in crying...the only way to stop him is to put him to my breast. I think this is only way to comfort him. Small baby always need comfort from parents n cry for needs...Baby kiddy care specialist hav given me some booklet to read about all months of baby needs...so that I can easy to handle his growing needs...

Next I'm going to learn to bath him on my own, hopefully can start on my own wit my mum guide. I'm not doing it as I couldn't really can squard down yet, as the cut still hav a bit tearing pain. once recover should b fine. I also wan to hav a section or two for post-natal massage. This will help to get rid of the wind in body and up push the cervical back into position, also can help to get body back in shape.

Next Saturday will invite some close friends come over to my house to visit Terry. Will cook lunch to serve them. Sunday will hav another round of fullmoon party at church. Many gifts and wishes hav been received from family, relative n friends.

Confinement

So aft out of hospital is time to go under confinement..is like jail at home...can't go anywhere and eat almost the same taste of dishes everyday for all 3 meals...

As follow chinese culture of doing confinement, I'm not suppose to do the following, why? no one tell me, nothing to prove it, but to follow for the sake of own health. Anyway if got to follow it I won't lost anything, as old ppl who has come across and experience it. But some are really too over...

1. No bathing until day 12 - Nope, I take bath on the day 7, but not washing my hair until day 12. No bathing only hot towel clean the body..

2. No hair wash - Yes, I did it, not washing my hair until the 12th days, it is very very oily n dusty...a confinement lady is actually very dirty! but what to do for the sake of health..

3. Don't touch tap water - This is impossible! as I already touch it since in hospital right aft give birth. This rule is too strict. I just not allow tap water to touch my body and try not to wash my hand for many times in a day. As old folks said it will cause wind in body worr...dunno how true is it...

4. Eat ginger - All confinement food need to b in ginger n sesame oil..it is more ginger, ok!..not few slices....the recipe is very very boring...is it either cook it with chicken/pork, wood fungus "mok yee" or pig's stomach.....just mix n match with it.....most of the time is chicken...and cooking style is either steam or cook in soup....whatever food goes in hav to b cook in ginger....hai....my taste bud already numb to it...

5. Don't sit, just lie down - Cannot b, how can I just lie down without handle my darling? if he good boy n sleep then I can hav my sweet time of sleep, sit or lie...yeah it would b good if can lie down so that my pain will heal fast...but it is very hard for me to do so. Too long lie down also not good for cervical recovery.

6. No plain water - Yes, it suppose not to drink, but my mum let me drink it, and it must b in warm temperature. Other than plain water, red dates water is my main drinking water.

7. Not directly facing fan/ taking outdoor wind - well, not too follow on this. But, since not going out the doorstep, no chance taking any wind from outside also. But I try not to facing fan directly. Folks said that will cause nerve pain.

So many restriction...not easy also..how nice if can eat everything i like n i dun mind follow watever restriction....food can see but cannot eat really hard to tahan also...like dumpling....wow...saliva drop....

My weight since pregnant 59kg, aft giv birth drop to 55kg, latest weight 52kg....I wan back to my original 50kg now...I dun think is hard, coz now is still the 'golden' time to slim back....anyway I still eat like normal, never cut down on anything...trying to fit back my pants this morning...just a bit tight at butt area..and tummy area are popping out a lil bit...hopefully aft 1 month or more can bring back the old me. I damn miss my wardrobe mini T!

Baby condition
Stepping into 2 weeks old now, he is growing fast, now he can drink 3 oz milk. Since born 1 oz. He likes to cry for milk n nappy...once he cry, he will scream....sometime I also dunno how to stop n comfort him...once he is satisifed wit his milk, he will sleep soundly...but sometime he like to merajuk for an hour long or more than only can sleep...every 2-3 hours he wan his milk...midnight wake is normal to me now...3 times every night..

Sometime even worst...aft finish his bottle for 15 min, rock him back to sleep need to take an hour or more...aft he sleep comfortable in my arm, I will put him back to his crib. Half an hour later, aft i lie down and back to sleep, he will scream in the middle of his sleep, so need to wake up and rock him back to sleep again...again there another half n hour to 1 hour, sometime a few wake n rock...upon his sleep half way is time for him to eat...so how can I sleep during at night?

Currently i feed him breast milk n formula...as I still dun hav enough for his consumption. My mum help me to feed him during midnight with formula so that I can hav a good night sleep. Talk about breastfeed, it is not easy too...most of the time I pump out and feed him wit bottle, this way can monitor his consumption..I dun think I can feed him for 6 months long...dun hav that patient...now planning to breastfeed him for 2 months...

Relatives hav been coming to visit baby n me...all also said he is lovely, cute, handsome..etc...yeah...he look like Brandon 90%....can't really find any part looks like me... :( Hav been planning for his fullmoon party now...hav set it on 18th June. That day is Father's Day, Terry Fullmoon celebration and also my birthday...party will b having lunch at a restaurant... beside that I also need to set a Thanksgiving party in church for his arrival and also a day for my own frens to visit baby.

Labor & Delivery

Have been listen and read about many painful story about delivery a baby..finally I taste it..and the experience won't b forget lifetime.

20th May Saturday - midnight about 2am suspected my water bag hav burst..at 5am and i felt that water leak out is more n more...so i quickly took a shower then change, bring my hospital bag and admit hospital..

5.45am - admit to hospital and lay down in labor n delivery ward...is a single room...i thought they will check me on the water bag burst condition first before they can confirm that i need to admit hospital..but they did not do that...nurse started to ask me to change into the hospital wear and started to put on the heart beat belt on me to check baby heart beat and contraction pain. At time admit hospital i didn't have any pain at all..also together they giv a bowel care...

7.10am - my gynea came, checked me and said that my water bag hav burst (actually he did not do any scan or check also) and started to check my cervical dilation. This is very pain to me too...he said that my cervical haven't dilate yet. He recommend that i used epidural or hav c-sec since i so afraid of the pain...before they do any of these 2...my mum, cousins sis thru phone asking me not to take that, as this epidural may hav side effect when we get older later....especially it may cause back-ache....as it inject into the back bone...although doc said it is very safe n very common to take it and it greatly reduce pain n no effect in future... after some consideration n advice i did not take any epidural...so i gotta tell myself i have to take the contraction pain n labor pain wit all my strength n faith...

After doc left, those staff midwife started to giv me fluid drop to let my cervical dilate n get into pain...so before the pain come i can sleep, eat n watch Wah Lai Toi. After lunch pain started to come little by little...my pastor's wife came to visit me and prayed for me for a short while...Nurse on n off came n check my condition of dilation. 3-4 hours have passed and my dilation is only 3cm..at that time my tummy already cramp like hell...i can't move around or even sleep side way..coz the heartbeat belt and fluid drop machine is hang on me...so i just can sleep straight only...leg also can't put up as it will slowly down the dilation....so it is real pain..i asked for the pain killer injection...(as recommend by my cousin)..it greatly comfort me, aft the injection i can even sleep and the pain is reduce 50%.

Around 6pm, when i awake the dilation reach 5cm. The great pain was back as the pain killer medicine is over. Very very cramp n pain...every 5 min....wah...those hours very very hard to passed..i started to think when i can tahan until it fully dilate...so as nurse said no pain no delivery...so i gotta tahan lorr...

Within 1 hour...beyond my expectation it dilate to 9cm....and the pain of coz is the greatest one this time......the pain push me like i wan to go toilet for big bussiness...nurse saw me so suffering ask me to put on the gas..it is call laughing gas, a way to reduce pain too....so i hold one the gas mask...before pain come i hav to suck n suck n suck the gas...at that time i already very very faint...eye can't open just concerntrate on the pain come and suck the gas.

8pm+ my gynea reach, i can listen n blur blur saw that nurse n gynea quickly put on the disposable clothes and a lot of paper n plastic on me...aft my leg put up to a holder..they started ask me to push, push n push....it really hav technique to push a baby out....the feel is like when u push a hard shit out....exactly the same...so the way of breathing also very important...take the a big breath in to push down without exhale out....once i stop half way to rest for breath the baby head will go in n out...one short of breath hav to push hard down....so aft a few round of baby head in n out coz i dunno how to breath....i used my last full strength n energy to push...else doc will help using vacuum..half faint half pain...i try my best to push the last time...with Brandon help beside to ask for push all the way and many of pushing help beside finally baby is out naturally...


The moment baby out..i was like totally release n very very tired, no pain anymore...although i know doc is stitching back the episiotomy cut....i heard baby cry and nurse put the baby on my chest...i was so touch n i kissed my baby...seeing him very cute...

Brandon n my mum was all the time there when baby is out and they keep on looking at the baby n feel joyous about his arrival....before they bring him out the ward..you know what, he already opened his eye to look around and play saliva there...

After doc finish taking the cord blood and stitching, nurses started to clean me and put me in the patient room...everything finish at 10.30pm...everybody also tired...Brandon n mum back home aft that...

nurse wanted me to put him on breastfeed, but i just couldn't sit up so i just ask them to feed him powder, the next morning only breastfeed him...

21th May - family member of both were came for visiting, so during daytime not really hav a good rest also....once i wan to rest baby is time to feed...

22th May - A nurse invite me to watch a breastfeeding video and also teach me how to put on baby to breastfeed, hav gain some info there. Discharge at noon. Delivery cost RM3780+ and my confinement period started now...will share more later.

Waiting moment

It is 38th week now and i'm still waiting at home. I already passed the expected due date, which is suppose to b on 15th May..

Did went to check up, as that day suspected my water bag burst...but it is not, in fact i got fungus infection inside..damn!!..final week giv me this problem, so no choice hav to take tablets in order to recover. And doc said may b baby come next week..hai....still hav to wait....

Another problem was, last 2 days i can't even walk as baby head hav turn down more and pressed my right thigh nerve...and it is very very pain....hav been consult this to doc so that i won't b so nervous on what happen....the leg pain also coz i got a bit water retention on my feet...the first night of the pain i even cried out midnite...coz i can't take it, asked my mum to prayed and massage for me....today still can't walk very well...but the pain is reduce....

Mother's day, not going anywhere and not celebrate too, but i got a stalk of carnation from church committee...mum-to-be mah... and also some sms from those frens who already become mama.....my mum always said, being his good son n daughter already best gift of all and everyday also can b a mother day...this is very true..being a mom is not easy....i will taste it pretty soon...

37th week check up

Basically nothing much, doc said anytime baby will come, baby is grow full month in my womb...weighted 6.1 pounds (2.8kg)....ideal weight too....for myself i'm 59kg now...gain back 0.5kg (last 2 wek drop 0.5kg)...throughout my whole preg i gained 9kg....went to cut my hair again...now u can see very very short....hopefully later i can tahan not to wash hair for 1 month (! dunno i can take it or not!)

Mum has been be wit me this whole week to get ready the kitchen stuff n food so that she won't kelam-kabut when baby reach home....and my baby stuff are arrange in order now...next week got to check up again...dunno can go for another round or not or the baby come before the check up....

I'm very nervous now...dunno how the pain would like when it comes....i will tell u later...anyway i wan to see my baby as soon as possible....

My dream of baby furniture

Since I have this little one, I plan to give him Snoopy® as his baby item. I was searching thru the net about Snoopy baby bedding set...since in Malaysia we doesn't have this kind of Peanuts series things...not even can find in World of Cartoon outlet. In fact, baby Winnie the Pooh® and Disney® baby character stuffs are a lot, but that also not in full set..aiyah, too bad...but i really so love to have it...

Thank God that even couldn't buy it, I able to get a second hand Snoopy's bumper from Michelle and some Snoopy clothes from cousins...been told that those item are normally from HK or UK...Agnes told me in Singapore are famous with all sort of this cartoon baby things, I believe there might have...

My dream babyroom set

35th weeks of me

2 weeks not login to blog, basically now I've stop working and stay at home till baby arrive...stay at home to rest more and get prepare...also on n off back to office a while, as the my partition office hav been set up finally, back to arrange the computers and my desk..office is slightly bigger than last time..

Went to my 35th weeks check up too, baby is good, head measured 8.8cm and weighted 2.3kg..but my weight drop 0.5kg...anyway doc said no big deal, as long as baby is gaining is ok....i suspect it could b i ate lesser outside food, which is oily and MSG...now everyday mum cook for me and i eat a lot of cereal oats...doc said my baby will pop on 38th week..so counting down i got 3 more weeks to go...probably is after Mothers' Day....can't wait to c my baby boy....

Things almost get ready, now my store room full of baby things...wait to be arrange....mum have start buying all the confinement stuff that i need and i also not forget to go for my last sales shopping..haha..yesterday even went to Isetan member sales...at ladies and cosmetic department can't even breath...too many ppl...we head to gents and baby dept...get a set of pillow and bolster and the bathing rack ....especially bathing rack..hardly to find at baby centre outside...actually when we first saw at outside we not plan to buy, it cost RM69.90, but since got 60% disc so just get it....

now my tummy quite big..when go walk outside like yesterday go for shopping..ppl's eye contact tend to goes to my tummy...i feel not so comfortable la...anyway is normal for ppl to see la...last time i also see preg lady tummy like tat..coz it is big n obvious...i can't walk fast, hardly bend down...and very easy to get tired...now i rest at home i tend to sleep a lot, sometimes can't really sleep at night...just hope baby come faster so that i no need to carry this big tummy...u know when i walk i can't saw my footstep on the floor already...

Congratulation to my cousin bro James Liong and Julia Wee, they finally tied the knot..attended their church wedding last Saturday...

Storing of stem cell

Met the consultant to talk about cord blood collection. After another round of explaination to Brandon, we get clearer about the benefit of the blood, the policy and agreement and payment. We finally sign up with StemLife and receive the blood collection kit. We also received 1 year waive annual fee, meaning that baby age 2 onwards only needs to pay RM250 per year.

Addition point which I dunno was after the blood being process, if the blood contain of bacteria and the quantity of stem cell collected below par, we will get the money back in full…Besides that, I’ve been told that I need to call to inform the sales rep upon my admission to hospital and 2nd call to inform when dilate 7cm, so that the lab assistant are ready to b there to send my blood back to the stem cell lab.

From my own point of view, to me this collection is very costly for first payment (RM2500), but for long term it is very worth to keep. After many days and many points of consideration, we only take it…if financially really cause us problem then we may take the idea off. Anyway I’m so happy to hav it now, as I know the importance of the blood is far higher than u having a high insured life/medical policy. Insurance policy may only cover the cost u spend for illnesses, and (touch wood!) it may not save ur life if it is a critical illness, but this blood is save life. Scientist hav proven that there are many kind of uncured illness can save by stem cells. Currently heart disease and spinal cord injury are the most popular used of stem cell to cure and the list is keep on adding.

Therefore I keep on advice my fren who pregnant to think twice on storing stem cell…life is too fragile now.

33rd week appointment

Just went to do check up….everything ok…baby aged 34th week plus…growing very fast, between 2 weeks time..he grow 1kg..now weighted 2.2kg (4 pounds 84 ounce)…I also grow 1kg..now weighted 59kg…the nurse started giving me infant milk powder sample.

Now we still considering which stem cell company we want to sign up to collect our baby cord blood. Will arrange consultant for face-to-face enquiry by this week hopefully…

Probably will go for another 2-3 times check up, then I think is time baby arrive!

Lately....

Share with you here my baby boy. This is the ultra scan print of his face feature during 31st week...this Thursday will go for check up again...my body n leg can now feel the heavy pressure...walk also a bit slow now...finger n leg are easy to get numbness which coz by water retention...body more n more easy to get tired....lately have better sleep thru the night...baby very active moving...sometime may get some uneasy feel when he kick sideway..

my hospital bag are almost 90% ready...left the bottle need to sterlised...others than that bed are on the way to reach me end of the month, pillow and bolster haven't buy yet...think got to buy during this or next weekend. i was thinking, aft baby born might not hav much own sweet time to do things i like....sweet sleeping time may cut off 70%, every effort n concerntration will go to the baby...i was told brandon that when baby comes, we no more 2 ppl world la....

My mum will end her job by this weekend to help me during my confinement....those old folks so sad of her leaving...and miss her cooking too...before baby comes mum will take care of my mealing and some house things....my house still quite messy need to rearrange some furniture to accomodate my convenience of used, especially the bedroom. I schedule to stop work in next 2 weeks.

My office partition still haven't setup yet, now doing the painting n some touch up work...still very noisy and smelly (paint) outside....i think the worker will only do it aft outside work have done. Aft partition setup thats a lot to do also...like network linkage, streamyx setup, and the PDA n invoicing system also need to b upgrade....This Friday will hav a training section on the new system....hopefully the clerk here will handle well of the things...many thing have to start telling her what to do when i'm not around.

Progress during 31st week

Right now, outside was raining….and finally I’m blog in new office…yesterday we hav a smooth moving process and everything cover up late yesterday night….i’m not yet sitting at my own office, coz need to wait for those moved over partition to b set up like in old place, get back the network connection then only consider everything is complete, but majority are here now…temporary all of us using my FIL big office. Due to raining some outside renovation, installation and touch up work hav to b stop now n then. But no big deal, as long as office and inventory stock back in operation, others thing can b done little by little.

Was having my 31 weeks 1 day check up two day ago, early in the morning be his first patient of the day. This time I ask gynea about my numbness hand n leg. He said that is coz by water retention that happen to majority preg women. But I’m not serious that kind, coz just lil bit only. And today I read newspaper, it said try to reduce salt and drink water at night, it helps to reduce the water. May b yesterday shifting I’m moving a lot I found my palm n finger of both hand is slightly lil bit swollen (at first it only started at right hand).

Scanning time, baby everything is ok, can see clearly his face feature now and I got the scan print too (need to scan, later upload it). Aft I’m having that scan I keep on bring it in n out from my handbag and look at it…haha..the feeling really so sweet….eventhough is just black n white shadow scanning..i already so happy about it…when I miss him I will take it out and look again….haha…so the eagerness to see my baby is getting stronger n stronger. Baby now weight 1.2-1.3kg (about 2.64 pounds), I gain 1 kg within 2 weeks, still the same 80% I will deliver mid-May.

Last Saturday was able to turn up the talk, but was 20 mins late. As I finish up work late and also jam at Cheras…so when I reached there, 1 topic have skip. There is a short presentation from StemLife cord blood bank. Aft the presentation I hav know more about the useful of cord blood to diseases. Cord blood is the cheapest n fastest way to get the highest capacity of blood cell. Anyway been asking many times to hubby, he still insist that is not a necessary…it required RM7,500 for 20 years of maintaining the blood in the bank (this hav include the registration fees and annual fees). 4 years ago, StemLife set up in Malaysia and collected 6,000 bags of blood and only a few been used up. Anyway, we dunno the importance until we really need them to safe life. There is a case in South Korea, a lady hav met an accident and couldn’t walk and lay on the bed for the past 20 years …aft many years of searching and waiting for the blood, which the ratio of matching is 1:20,000-40,000. Finally she found it and her sickness was being healed just in 3 weeks time.

Aft 20 mins break, with some light served refreshment, we start another topic of “Natural and Caesarian birth”. Again this topic was almost the same as the previous talk I attend, but this round is more in summarized and covered a few important points that not mention before this. But a lot of Q&A from audience, which is not related the topic. Aft filling up the talk evaluation form, that’s end of the talk.

Since Brandon work late and he not able to fetch me up. So I follow my fren to shop at KLCC and Mid Valley and walk a lot in the evening. Lately too in love in blue berry, went to Strudels bought a tart and cheese cake and yes both in blue-berry…though to share it with Brandon, but too bad he having some unusual uncomfortable to his body, so he is not having any of that, and this morning both are my breakfast…yummy!

Good that my upstair fella not making noise anymore…even they did shout scream and laugh loudly in the night, but they stop it aft 12am sharp…hopefully they know how to behave themselves la… Sunday, as usual went to church n back home…wow my mum said I fat already…aft not seeing me for 1 week. Yeah, especially the face..u know some of the dress can’t fit now…need bigger size…coz tummy getting bigger….expected 6 more weeks to pop. After church, check the baby stuff collected back from church fren and still hav some coming from my kind and generous church member.

Now, I wan to get ready my hospital bag as soon as I can. Have a check list, and only 30% of them are there…so I got to faster get them ready, as I can sense that my delivery will be getting more earlier than the expected...now I feel my placenta is getting lower, since baby head has turn and it always hitting my bladder. Yesterday afternoon, my left bottom stomach was swelling pain, I did nothing just lay on the bed to comfort it. Luckily nothing big deal…now ok already. Coming Wednesday will check up again, I’m so eager to ask gynea about baby situation and the most important the delivery date.

Month end office and warehouse will shift to another new warehouse, which own by FIL. This week he will b more busy to look aft the renovation and final touch up work. Hopefully we hav a smooth shifting on this weekend.

Uneducated neighbour

I nearly want to scold n shout to the 11th floor bastard thru my kitchen window facing up their bedroom window. I think those living in are some college student. Last night they really disturbing my sleep n even my baby also terkejut in the middle of night (coz he moving very much there). In the midnight of 1-3am, when we having the sweetest sleeping mode, they shout, scream, talk n laugh loudly and their walking step are like King Kong, can clearly hear the foot stepping sound. Not only that they also drag the table n chair and make out those scratching noise…really so terrible. This is not the first time, and also of coz they not having this behavior every night. Sometime they do it loud, sometime not, every fortnight they having different do. Last time I still ok and can stand with it, may be my mood swing aft pregnant, can’t take it anymore. Last night I really so mad and I think we cannot keep quiet about that. I want to shout to ask them to ‘diam lahh..’. I didn't do that as I dun wan them to recognize my look n later will do something on me. So I just go back to bed n try very hard to sleep.

Terribly, when I sleep, I dream twice on how to scold n warn them with letter, pasting horrible poster in front of their door, pasting notice at 11th floor lift button, inside lift and notice board by letting ppl know their behavior....wah this dream of action really so crazy man! …hai…really haunting me…of coz I’m not going to do that. Later I will write a letter to warn them, hopefully they will b considerate and co-operate.

29th week appointment

Went to check-up again. Be his last patient of the day. Ultra scan shows that the baby head has turn down. Features n parts everything can see clearly…healthy baby too.. wanted to print out his face features but this notty boy boy used his hand cover his mouth, not so nice to print. So got to wait next round…big eyes like Brandon and nose looks like me…small small lips…cute!

Doc said, 80% of times I might having 2 weeks early birth than the expected due. Now my check up appointment become 2 weeks once. My tummy was tremendously increasing n baby like kicking especially at night time, even I sleep early. I’m getting more n more easy to get tired n sleepy and now I can sleep as early as 9pm.

Now I’m thinking what name to put on him, many many have come across my mind. I will select a few to let FIL to choose.

There will b another pregnancy talk at Pantai Cheras on 25/3, is about before and aft preg nutrition, cord blood and I forget another topic..from 2-5pm. Might going for this talk too.

Looking forward for my 31st week appointment. Closer n closer now….

Give birth talk

Went to a talk conduct by MommyBaby mag panel doc Dr. Ng Kok Chong in Pantai Hospital, Pandan Indah. Went together with Ah Moon one of my fren who also preg 3 months+ now. Reach there a bit late and the talk already started. Upon registered roughly browse thru the name list written there, wow, only 3 ladies in mid 20s which included both of us. Others are early to mid 30s. Most of us are 1st time mother. From here we can see that nowadays women are getting late n late to have 1st child.

Dr. Ng’s talk covered quite detail about the labor process and what are the do n don’t before and during laboring. He also showed us live video the whole natural labor n cesarean section, which makes me so scary to look at it. I almost block my half eye to watch that. The purpose of it is to let us know how they done on natural and caesarean, and most important is to show us how the baby head position when the time it pass thru the virginal. Wow, the live video really nightmare to me. Especially the bloody section when the baby head come out n the part of cutting the cervix line. (mind fainted !~!) Watch also can feel the pain nia…

After 1 hour section end, we were served with light refreshment and also Dumex Mamil Gold counter are there to promote the milk powder for mummy.

2nd section talk conduct by the only Anaesthologist doc at that Pantai Hospital, Dr. Augustine Yew. Basically he let us know what are the way we can use for pain relief and when we should apply those methods provided. Next he describes to us how pain is labor pain. I almost mind fainted again…the statistic shows that, labor pain is above the pain u get from twist ankle, tooth ache and break bones. It almost reach 92% along the vertical pain scale, is the most pain. !!~!! aahh…how am I going to tahan the pain for 10-11 hours….I really can’t imagine now…he highly recommend the use of Epidural.
