CNY Group Visit at Peng Clan Association

It was an yearly CNY group visit at Peng Clan Association at their activity center in Cheras. This association having all Peng Clan members who carry surname of " " - Peng, Pang, Phang and etc...all Mr. Mrs Pang, Miss Pang, Madam Pang, Datuk Pang will gather together there to celebrate this day.

My FIL was the President of this association since few years ago. Every year family members and friends of Peng Clan member will be invited to join this party too. Hubby was not a registered member with them yet :P

Last Saturday (6th March), we went for it. It starts at 6.30pm. Due to heavy rain, we only manage to reached by 8pm. The programmes of the evening include lion dance, ang pao and mandarin orange distribution, karaoke, lucky draw and etc. For the food wise, they served Hakka dishes - "lui cha" and some other buffet foods.

Once we reach, the lion dance started shortly. It was Terry's first time watching the real lion dance besides from books and TV. It was not really that bad terrified him for the loud drum noise and 2 big head lions.

His expression

Far better than meeting Santa Claus, LOL! We both take turn to carry him to watch and sometime he hide his face from looking at the lion. I kept encourage him to watch by seeing a big group of kids surrounding the lion head without any fear.

The lion make greeting to the VIPs while passing them oranges. When I'm sorting out the pic, I only realised that I captured him.

Familiar face? He is Tan Sri Robert Phang, lately there were some news related to him with MCA Youth Chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong on PKFZ scandal. He is the Advisor of the Association.

Name of the main hall with FIL's last name.

After the lion dance and ang pao distribution, I only started to eat. Since late already the food left not much.

I somehow got click to a member Mrs. Pang there. Every year she was so looking forward to see me there. She (Su-San) a mother of 2 boys. We known since year 2008 on a very unfortunate day in hospital, when both of our son hit by burn.

We met at the same doctor's clinic, admit to the same hospital, did the burn operation on the same evening and also stay next to each other in the same room. Some medical staff was thought that this both young patients are "brother". Ya, can consider so, since they both have the same surname and the middle one too - "Pang Chee Xxxx". Her son that time was only a 8 months old baby, burned by hot iron at his right thumb when riding on walker. From there on later, we keep contact on the phone to check out our son well-being and recovery. Till now, we still have lots to share, especially on what to use on the scar for better recovery and the changes and fear in them after the accident. Hopefully soon we will catch up again.

Welcoming the Tiger Year (Day 9 to Day 15)

Comes to the last post about how I spend my CNY. Hopefully I'm not drag it too long or you will start get boring reading this.

22/2 (Monday) 初九
School start day, daddy resume work and so do my daily routine are back too. The boy having hard time to wake up after 1 whole week of break. But luckily he was not fuss when waking him up, he was actually so looking forward to go to school everyday.

23/2 (Tuesday) 初十
Attend a focus group discussion with Mummy Moon at my ex-company Synovate. For the first time being a respondent there I feel so excited. Manage to met some of my old colleagues and friends and say Hi to them. We were there to discuss about milk powder and this discussion was one of the project from Dutch Lady Friso Gold.

They served us a simply dinner (fried rice from La Manila) before the discussion start. There were 8 of us mummy there, who giving kids and baby Friso Gold milk. The discussion was speaking in Cantonese, thus I feel very comfortable to voice out my opinion fluently. We talked and discuss on many area about giving milk powder and baby. The whole section lasted for 2.5 hours and as a token of appreciate we were being paid for RM150. After this discussion I know a lot of things and how important of a good milk powder work on the kids.

Guess what, immediately on the next day (24/2) I switched Terry's milk powder back to Friso Gold after giving him 1 year on Abott Gain Plus Eye-Q. The biggest reason to change also because I don't see the milk powder works good in improving his immune system and appetite, especially after he starts going to school, he really fall sick very frequently. Terry was fully on Friso Gold milk since born till end of year 2008, when my FIL stop distributing Dutch Lady milk product that time, then only we decide to take other milk poweder. This was actually my first time to decide back what milk powder to give for the boy.

Welcoming the Tiger Year (Day 5 to Day 8)

18/2 (Thursday) 初五
Not going anywhere, clean up the house, done the laundry and cook lunch. At night, I went dinner at my parent's with the boy, as hubby have gathering 'lou sang' dinner with his secondary schoolmates.

19/2 (Friday) 初六
Never in my mummy life before I got the good time to sleep till afternoon 12.15pm. After lunch, I was in front of the computer to finish up the paid reviews till evening. Late dinner time at 8.30pm, we eat out at Fatty Mok Yong Tau Foo in Salak South.

The night, first time I let the boy sleep by himself at the super single bed next to us in the same room. He agreed for sleeping on his own when I asked him. This bed was not new to him as he used to have his afternoon nap. It was actually hubby's bed since Terry slept next to me at my Queen size bed at age 2. He was quite ok with it and no separation anxiety at night for not having me next to him.

Officially sleep by his own

20/2 (Saturday) 初七
This day we also called it 人日 (Human Day) the common "birthday" for all human beings. No special celebration. In the morning, I went attended a make-over makeup section invited by a primary schmate – Stacey Lee. At the same time also giving my support to her since I also wanted to learn something on make up. She is a new friend to me, we same primary school but different class. Only got know her through Facebook few months back.

She was a professional make-up artist cum Image Consultant, trying to promote her service in Sunway Pyramid. She was participating in the SOHO network booth for 2 weekend time. She also giving personal make-up course and workshop from time to time.

Poshies-Ladies.com is her web-store, besides on her make-up service, she also do facial & face painting. In her online store, she was selling some ladies clothing, make-up accessories, cosmetics, lingeries and bags.

This is me after the make-over. This year the trend was focus on the eye for making it big and dark. Err...I don't quite like it. Taking pic after the make up looks more natural, in actual the eye is really big and dark. I was thinking to hang longer in the mall after that, but I don't feel that comfortable having that thick make-up on my face.

I was so wanted to watched 72 Tenants of Prosperity (72家租客) or The Big day! WooHoo (大日子WooHoo) by MyAstro on this CNY. Since no one interested to go movie with me, I managed to bought back the WooHoo DVD to watch it at home with everyone. This was the first ever home-grown Chinese movie and it was so hot since before CNY. Everybody I know they have watch it (include my FIL to go midnight show for it), so I must watch it without fail. Bought this at Speedy before the make-over start. This DVD was selling at RM19.90 and it is worth to collect it.

At night, my one and only closest cousin sister Evangeline Lai came to my parents place for a new year visit. We have dinner together. Since we grow up we seldom have chance to get together for a section like this. We've got a great time chatting and catching up with each other.

A lovely Famous Amos hamper from her

21/2 (Sunday) 初八
My normal Sunday got to be..church then back to parent's place till night. Distribute the last round of ang pao at church for the kiddos. Night time till late, the fireworks were caught everywhere from my balcony. It was the 'bai tin gong' day for Hokkiens. The atmosphere is more happening than the CNY eve.

Welcoming the Tiger Year (Day 3 & Day 4)

16/2 (Tuesday) 初三
After breakfast at hotel, I headed to my uncle and aunt house kaypoh-ing while hubby took his own sweet time to rest in the hotel and join his Ipoh friends later for food hunting. I'm not joining him as I got a long-waited gathering with 2 mummy in the afternoon. Many of my relatives and cousins left heading back home.

The mummy I was planning to meet are lovelymummy (Shirley Soo) and Mummy-in-vain (Jacelyn Chew).

Me, Shirley and Jacelyn. I look a bit huge in between 2 petite mummy.

Finally, we make it at 4.30pm in Indulgence. I was told that this was the most high class restaurant in Ipoh. It was a bungalow lot restaurant and boutique hotel reserving back on its own English exterior.

Inside the place is cozy, quiet and very comfortable, it is definately a great place for gathering. Here, mainly they serve European cuisine and this is what I have and the price is reasonable too.

Fresh Lemon and Cappuccino Brownies

The minute we sat down, it was like meeting an old friend. Since we know each other well from blogsphere, we talked non-stop for almost 2 hours and I certainly have a great moments with them. Many thanks to both of them for the tea time and Jacelyn offers to sent me back to my uncle house too.

After dinner, while waiting hubby came to take us back, I got the great time playing and singing to baby Benjamin Liong. He was such a cutey and Terry love him too. He was my cousin bro's son and so far he is the youngest in the family.

17/2 (Wednesday) 初四
The day we return to KL. Early morning at 7.30am we have light breakfast at hotel first then when my parents and others reach our place near hotel, we brought them for breakfast.

Initially was thought wanted to have dim sum at Fu San. Holly moly, since they are very famous, (now the shop also bigger with 3 floors), their business too good and they got to close the gate for business for not letting many ppl go into the restaurant to wait. Eaters got to wait outside and given a number to wait for your turn. My uncle happened to eat there on chor 3 early morning. It was really terrible, too many ppl, waiters is not enough or slow, they got to self serving from taking food too. Not only that, the quality of food is bad too. Not to think too much, we find something else to eat. Ipoh for sure got many other good foods.

We ate at Fai Kee Restaurant for its fish head noodle. Never before I taste such a good bowl of fish noodle. For usual days, I never like having it. I got to say Fai Kee one I like it very much. They are selling all kind of fish noodles like the famous one fish head meehoon and seafood noodle. Others are like fish fillet noodle, fish meat noodle, pork, prawn, chicken. All have..the portion is big too and the size of fish ingredient in the bowl also big. My tummy only have space for 1 bowl and not try others. For sure I will back again. It located same row as Restaurant Overseas and opposite Hotel Excelsior at Jalan Seenivasagam. This restaurant is one of the famous one too in Ipoh for I read their food review showing right at the entrance. *Sorry no pic, forget to snap*

The journey back KL is all way smooth with no jam. Hub's friend scared us that the traffic is slow and jam on 3rd day, that's why we left early. We reach KL toll gate around 12 noon. Not eating lunch, after unpack and feed the boy some yong tau fu pack from Ipoh, we have a long long nap till 8pm. The boy nap till 9pm+ have a bottle of milk then continue his sleep till the next day. To him the CNY, other than play, he has not been eating and resting well.
