My last July weekend

Last Saturday noon, having a great time gathering with my close ex-colleagues at Sunway Pyramid. We met at Restaurant Fish Manhattan for lunch. Ask 6 ppl out, only 4 of us turn up. Really long time never met with each other and we have a good time eat and chat together.

We all share about what are we currently doing. It is very true that, last time we work very hard and boss not treating us fairly here and there. What Alice said is very true, company don't feel any lost no matter how important are you in your position, you can be replace. But, if your family lost you, no one can replace. Working is not everything, family and our closed one are still comes first. Happy to see that now they work in the job and environment they like now and most important they have more time for own and family.

When I talk about mine, blog virus is hack on me. I share to them my blogging world, earn from paid post and my boring SAHM life. After lunch, we shop for a while then back home. Able to get a new bag to pack Terry stuff when go out.

Sunday, Malay clerk's sis wedding kenduri at a multi purpose hall in Putrajaya, P8D. This is my very first time attending Malay wedding to see the whole adat bersanding. Kenduri served with nasi kunyit, rendang mutton and chicken and some other spicy and sweet dish and sirap drink. They invited 1500 guests. After the ceremony bersanding, the couple up at Pelamin and let family members to sprinkle air mawar on them. Think that this is a way show blessing or wishes? The Malay guest started fill up the hall..we leave after that.

Study template

I don't find my template got problem all these while. The loading sequence of this blog goes to the sidebar content first, then only display the main content. Sometime halfway loading sidebar it stop a while, then only it load again. Do you find this situation too when loading my blog?

For page load, it is very much depends on connection. I understand that sometimes it is a bit slow and believed some of my blog visitors also facing the same problem. Sometime it even got hang, that I can't do anything, thats the Blogger server traffic problem. I foresee the problem may causes my blog load slow could be the image ads or many posts? So far I have deleted the Google image ad and reduce no. of post to display. Other than that mostly are text, but just couldn't understand where actually goes wrong. Thats the much I can do for the time being. I have used Website Speed Test to check the page loading time. The result read the loading time is very good, under 2 seconds.

Changing a template really a big job to do. I really like my current template, which I've done lot of changes and adjustment before I put it on live. Transfer all the side bar items is a must, reading the CSS bit by bit and refresh the test blog many times just to make sure everything are in place and not out of alignment. It is not easy, some CSS code and syntax really don't know how they work, I just trial and error. This template take me 3 nights doing it. It is very tiring actually. At the moment, I don't plan to change it, sorry for those who have problem loading. Pls just bear a bit longer for that and don't leave me out.

I started to learn using Beta blogger in my test blog, just in case one day if I want to renovate my blog I can go for Beta version instead of classic template. Somehow after test used, I still find classic template CSS are more easy to modified than beta. Beta version in a way that is friendly and easy to use in changing font & colours and placing extra page elements. When Editing HTML, really put me on test. I don't even dare to touch anything and do trial and error. It is not good to play with it.

Now, I'm test out with Minima template design and trying to put background header with own image. These 2 days I have read a lot of tutorials on beta blogger and try to use it in my test blog. So far so good. But still I can't solve my problem now and get what I want....

Why, so hard to touch CSS, just get a template and start over again! yeah I know, I have googled lots of template, find the layout that I like but here and there appear something that I don't like. So, what perfectly suit me is to do my own la...I just want my blog looks unique. So, times to go for my next changes.

Tamago Sushi day

Another sushi making adventurous happen in the kitchen today. This round I try to make Tamago Nigiri, which is sweet egg omelet and Maki sushi - crab stick with Tamago. These 2 are quite easy prepared ingredients. Crab stick, just dip it in hot boil water to cook a while. Here, show you how to make sweet egg omelet.

Ingredients:
2 eggs
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 tbsp soya sauce
oil or butter

1. Crack the eggs and whisk it with a fork or spoon until it smooth.
2. Stir in the sugar and soya sauce, stirring until thoroughly mixed in.
3. Heat frying pan with medium heat.
4. Melt butter or oil completely covered the pan.
5. Technique step by step how to fold sweet egg omelet can refer here.

I still find myself chicken hand, duck feet..LOL! (can't master) in rolling sushi at one go with the bamboo mat. What I do is adjusting here and there while rolling, as long as it comes out in round.

For the rice mold making Tamago Nigiri, I do it with free hand and with help of bamboo mat to shape it. Also with a lot of adjusting for the rice mold shape..haha...What a own way of making sushi.

Come see presentable or not?

Online shopping again

Since last online shopping experience that makes me feel nothing to complain, I really enjoy sitting comfortable at home and browsing my favourite items from eBay or other local online shop. You see, sometimes when really got mood to shop at malls, always turn me down, especially now during sales time. Might as well buy online or from small boutique shop which offer good prices.

Early week, I just did my 4 figure RM cash out. It is now time to reward myself a bit. I shop at Fashion2U, a local online shop selling young and trendy ladies apparel. I bought 3 pieces tops, 2 of it is to match with legging. I'm taking big gut to shop for clothes online for the first time. It is no way for you to try it on or check the material. All based on the product info, picture and a lot of email asking. So, got to measure roughly my size and the measurement info provided, just make sure it is between the measurement. There are certain risk to purchase online, like lost in postage and no return/exchange/refund. Item average cost higher a bit if we added in with shipping fee. Always I treat that as taxi fee, petrol fee or parking fee. Is almost similar cost plus the time walk up and down the mall.

So online store is always suitable for those who not drive, lazy to move or SAHM with small kids....if can I don't tag along my boy to shop. Once he get cranky I can't continue to walk. My trustee is still goes for local online store more than eBay those. I can't bear high USD charges on shipping at first, long waiting on delivery time and also very high risk in lost postage.

My first sushi making

Remember my wish wanted learn to make sushi? Yes, today I try to roll my own sushi. Have a little successful feel at least to mend my failure of frying meatball..LOL! That day shop at Jusco not able to get it as Terry got cranky. The next day, hubby brought back after work. After watching the DVD yesterday, I was so eager to start making.
This is what I have in a Sushi making set, come in a bag - RM29.90, consists of the bamboo rolling mat, soya sauce, sushi rice vinegar, dried seaweed x10, wasabi and a DVD included teaching you very detail from how to cook rice to how to roll various type of sushi. Of cause a bag of Super Komachi Japanese rice.

Here I show you how to cook the rice.

Ingredients:- (portion of making 4 small roll)
1 cup Japanese rice
1.25 cups water
60 ml sushi rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
0.5 teaspoon salt

1. Cook the rice , after cook and mix it well with sugar, salt and rice vinegar.
2. Let the rice cold under room temperature.
3. After that, you can start rolling. To see how to roll, you can check it here. Remember always wet your hand before touching the rice.

After trying to make 4 small rolls, I still couldn't really get the nice round shape sushi and the filling place right in the center. I don't know how it happen, I place in the center but after cut in to small pieces can see the filling not so center. Hhm..nevermind still can try make it better next round.

The overall taste of rice and filing is just right. The filling I used today is Ayam brand Tuna Chunk in Oil. Will try using some others fillings later. Here's my first work on Tuna maki-sushi roll.

Banana for medical uses

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!! This is interesting. After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking & Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So, maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

Failure in making meat ball

Initial plan of the night was wanted to make steam egg with minced pork, but suddenly come across Michelle's cookblog on making this Potatoes Meat Ball, since the ingredients are just almost the same. So I was thinking why not tonight I try to something different.

Follow as what told in the ingredients and steps. For frying part, I do not have breadscrumb on my hand. After thinking and get some advise from Msaufong, think I can replace it with frying flour, since thats the only thing I have. Minced the meat, mash the potatoes, seasoning it and I even added in some carrot fine slice. After finish preparing meatball, rest a while then started to cook.

My this frying flour instruction there said need to mix the flour with water, so I follow. Knead the meat into small ball, coated with the flour and put in the hot oil deep fry it. OMG, you know what happen, the small ball is out of round shape. After trying a few, I was thinking it must be too wet, either the meat or the flour shouldn't mix with water. So I try the rest coat only with flour. The outcome is slightly better than previous one, but the meat ball is still out of shape and both when deep in the oil it is very much stick to the wok and it causes many black burn stick to the meat ball..Can see some meat ball cooked at outside but not cook inside.

Ahh...totally no eye see, half cooked half burned. Since it is late, I don't want to fry anymore, left the half bowl of meat put it to steam with eggs. For half cooked meat ball, I double heat it again with microwave.

About 10 meat balls there, I ate most by myself, left 2 pcs looks a bit presentable for hubby to try. Can find the taste there but the frying makes worst of it. What a failure.... I got to find out where is my problem with the recipe's author later.

Weekend

Saturday - got invited by Karen to celebrate her 12th day after birth of baby Kaith. Saw her little princess finally, a very tiny small baby and very look alike mummy. Spend sometimes adoring this little one before other guests arrived and Kaith's mummy back from hair wash.

This hip mama not look like having confinement at all. She looks damn "kuat", can feel she is very energetic. Looks like she happily enjoying her long holiday at home more than confinement.

Pig trotter and yellow wine chicken were served to us. I like the pig trotter wine especially, really taste nice, I eat a lot :P Looking at small baby, eating confinement dish brings me back a lot of my confinement memories. Just stay a short while there and rush back for Terry who under my mum for 2.5 hours. You see, SAHM really can't go out for long.

On the way back home, went to Connaught pack some yong tau foo for my own dinner as hubby way up to Genting enjoy MLTR's concert.

=====================================================
Sunday - A rainy day, finally I can feel the cold breeze. Skipped church. After rain stop went to shop at Mid valley, since it is sales now. 3 months long didn't shop, can't control myself not going to shop. Buying new pair of shoe is my main target. Went at 3.30pm, luckily can easily found a parking although outside is still rain a bit and jam.

Hunt at 3 shoe shops, found what I like but no more size. See thats how goes to the standard woman shoe size 5. Always no stock. Hai..very disappointed, purposely went, but got nothing back. Nevermind, head to Jusco supermarket buy kiwi and sushi. Couldn't continue to window shop anymore, my boy just 2 hours in the mall, he started to get cranky and don't want to stay in stroller, so we got to go home instead of planning to go straight for my 3rd uncle's 60th birthday dinner at Pandan Indah.

Gave milk in car while on the way home, hope that he can get some sleep later at home. He is tired, but after bath still couldn't sleep. He continue to play until we get out for dinner. Once in car, sleep all the way to the restaurant for the good 30 mins. Luckily at dinner time he not cranky, can sit still on the high chair and look around for kids who running around with balloons, also I carry him to mingle around with his cousin. The dinner is very good, all expensive dishes. The birthday cake - jelly cake and walnut cake, both taste nice. I let Terry to try the walnut cake, after finish he cried for more.

1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra link back.

2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.

3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the "Originals" list.

4. Add at least 1 new blog that you KNOW is using the DO FOLLOW plugin to the list in the "My Adds" section. (Add no more than 5!) Let the people you’ve added know, so that they can keep the list going!

Health freak home

Lately our topic is more on eating health and healthy living. Hubby all this while not believe in nutrition product especially from direct sales. He criticize me eating a lot on those health product and expensive one, but not realised that I've actually giving him a good and healthy Terry boy. I don't what makes him sign up for Amway distributor membership not long ago and start buying a lot of things from Amway.

It is not a bad things at least now he sees health is very important and have to start detox our body and maintain health. Normally hubby order product online through Amway2u.com and the next day morning the courier man will deliver it to my doorstep. This of cause very convenient, not like my mum's time upline need to send order to downline. During weekend if having special invitation on product review, workshop or meeting, he will join in.
Range of products we are currently consume are Calcium, Fibre, Vitamin C, Daily, Double X, Herb for Men and Women, Active 8 and Protein. Currently I'm on Double X, twice a day, 3 capsules each time. So far so good, I can check my stool having a lot of impurity stuff wash out, also I can sleep more tight and comfortable at night. Hubby also having improvement on stamina and energetic at daytime. Other than this, he bought me some oral care products too like tooth paste, tooth brush and mouth spray (Glister).
For our home, he continue to invest in ATMOSPHERE Air Purifier and the coming Amway 3rd generation Water Treatment System, which will be launch coming September. These are the 2 most costly one.

Talking about the water filter, currently we are using Diamond Anti-bac water system. Since 2 months ago, I wanted to change Filter A and have been ask around Diamond booth, Sen-Q outlet and Jusco, all give me a no stock answer. Ask when they have, they ask you to buy from others. Even hubby went to HQ to check also no stock for twice. I was thinking is this filter still in production or forever no more stock. You see they don't give our customer after sales confidence, how they want their customer to use the product? See, it is not that we don't like it, but problem getting spare part down the road really a head-ache problem, might as well invest in an international standard product. Yeah, Diamond is made in Malaysia.

13 months old

Some points on his physical growth at 13th months. Basically not much changes:-
  • Not yet walk. Army crawling with body stick on the floor.
  • Able hold to stand from any surface that he can reach out.
  • Talk in his own language with lots of hand action comes with it.
  • When cartoon or drama ending roll out with all names of casting and producer, he will show me his hand action of finish-no more.
  • When he plays in the playpen half way heard inter-change for TV ads time he will quickly get up and watch out for his favourite Enfagrow ad - the one with 2 kids talk to each other for what he learn when ones absent or the Huggies pant ad with 2 little cuties dancing. Mostly ad he will watch till it finish without turn his eye away.
  • Point here and there for things he saw.
  • Press to switch on and off on TV and wall switches.
  • Change milk powder to Dutch Lady Friso Gold 3. 6oz milk x3 and porridge x2.
  • Eruption for Canine and first molar teeth for up and down. Not found him on teething difficulty yet.
  • He will shout, kick and or push things away if he get angry.
  • When ask to kiss on soft toy or pillow, his face will dearly touch on it. But not to me yet.
  • When he see milk bottle coming will lie down and wait in the bed without need to ask.
  • Hand action still remain that few. See how he did when I sing "Twinkle-twinkle Little Star" (refer to video clip)
He demand more carry now and cry for it especially during bedtime. He supposed to be very tired since he is taking his 1 round day nap (sometimes). When I put him to bed at the right time he refused to sleep and cry for carry. Many round of carry in and out and cry until he satisfied and tired of it then only he'll be quiet back in bed. Sometime we ignore his crying will work and he saw us sleep then he sleep. Sometime, he not fail to cry for long until we answer him.

This is a collage scrapbook done by jazzmint for the first 12 months of Terry's growth. The canvas using standard gallery wrap without frame on the stretched canvas. The quality of the finished product is just amazing and I'm impressed with the colorization. Canvas On Demand specially offer all kind of photo editing and technique you want before you print your canvas. You can change the photo background, black and white or Sepia to colorization, retouching and adjustment on color or even a torn and damaged photo can be repair before print.

A great idea for photo print on canvas can be used as an anniversary gift for any family member. Photo of the parents with their children and grandchildren or just a couple photo during big days or vacation can always put it up on canvas. It truly reminds the good times together, bring back lots of memories and keep each other closer.

Is mealtime usually difficult?

It is getting more and more difficult to please children during mealtimes. Parents have to draw on their reserve of patience and creativity to coax them to eat right. Make food appealing and mealtimes exciting so that even the more fussy eaters cannot resist them.
It's all about fun
Involve children in grown up things. get them to help. Your child can help you lay the table and prepare the food. Use cookie cutters to cut fun shapes for sandwiches and decorate them with carrots and lettuce. Voila! Food that is fun and attractive.

Keeping company
Sit with your child while she eats; it is a great time for stories and bonding. Sich healthy distractions will make eating seem, less of a chore but give added value to family time.

Sharing responsibility
When your child gets to have her 'say' in what she would like to eat; she will be more willing to try new things because then it would be her choice!

Praising good habits
Be generous with your compliments and praise. Children will be motivated when they are showered with 'Well dones' and 'That's a good girl'.

Presenting small amounts
Fill plates with just enough to tempt your child to eat so that she would be asking for more. Piling plates high with food can be overwhelming.

Keeping your cool
Do not lose patience no matter how trying feeding time can be. Persevere and you will be looking forward to a peaceful experience.

Building the appetite
We all know that snacking is a favourite filler between mealtimes but keep snacks light and small. This way, children will still look forward to mealtimes.

This article taken from Enfamama magazines, it is quite useful. Hope it helps a bit.

What I can foresee is only when kid start reaching the age of 2 above will face such difficult mealtime, where they know how to choose things and able to eat by themselve. I'm so afraid to see those mum chasing their kid to feed during mealtime. Not sure whether they not being taught in proper way or that is the kid behaviour.

Once I saw my neighbor feeding her son in the front yard while the kid holding the water pipe and play with water. My friend told me that her daughter must eat in front of the TV show. The worst comes to my aunty, she took 3 hours with lots of chasing, running and smacking to feed her son for just a bowl of rice. I believe that is really a hell time for her. Another neighbor, her daughter need to eat the rice with chocolate chip inside. Really a lot of such case when come to feeding the kid. A lesson need to learn again and test our patience.
