Steam Egg Roll with fish paste

Fish paste is a must ingredient in making Yong Tau Fu. For me who always prefer simple and fast cooking, I don't normally prepare varieties of Yong Tau Fu. Most of the time, I will stuff fish paste in fried bean curd (taofu pok) or make steam egg roll. These 2 dishes are Terry’s favorite too and he can simply finish his meal in short time.

Here, the recipe how to make Steam egg roll with fish paste. Super easy :)

Ingredients:-
3 eggs
150g fish paste

Preparation:-
  1. Beat the eggs and add in little bit soya sauce.
  2. For fish paste, add pepper and salt water to soften it (till the texture almost like kaya).
Cooking steps:-
  1. Heat the pan and grease it.
  2. Make egg skin: Pour the egg into the pan and start circulate the pan*.
    * I’m using 11” non-stick pan.
  3. Make sure the egg is well spread in a round shape.
  4. In low fire, cook till the egg fully dry on top, loosen it from the side and make sure it not sticks to the pan.
  5. Put the egg skin on the chopping board or any flat area.

  6. Well spread the fish paste with spoon on top on the egg skin.

  7. Roll it up and give a little press while rolling.
  8. When the egg roll put on the plate, make sure the edge of the egg side facing down to the plate.
  9. Turn to medium high fire and steam it for 15-18 minutes.
  10. Wait till it cool down, transfer it to chopping board and slice it into 1cm-1.5cm width.
  11. Serve.

That 3rd Birthday Night

Terry has been waiting it for many hours as he wanted to check his birthday cake, which bought back a night earlier. He kept open the fridge and calling out "cake, cake" when he thought of that or point to the fridge ask me to open.

Luckily he still can wait till after the dinner to reveal the cake. Daddy was sick actually (stomach caught wind – have hungry feel even after tummy full) and after the medicine, he was tired and too weak to get up and cut the cake together with the boy. So left me and the boy with the cake, when taking picture got to set auto shoot timer. For not to turn the boy down, of cause I still open up the cake, sing birthday song and cut the cake with him.

Thanks Daddy for getting a nice ice-cream cake even he was terribly uncomfortable that day. It was a little gold fish ice-cream cake from Baker's Cottage. The boy was giving me a big "WAH.." when the big round ice box open up. After that, I camwhore a bit the boy with the cake, before blowing the candles. He kept go round the coffee table and admire the cake.

It was a quiet birthday night for the boy. We slowly eat the cake and the ice-cream can’t really stand long under the room temperature and it started to get softer and softer after we cut it. And, it was totally out of shape before we finish half of it.

The cake is full of ice-cream, this also marked the first time Terry eating lots of it. As he continues to eat, he no longer like the melting ice-cream texture and stop eating the ice-cream and only want the cake part. The cake part is very little as a base, just about 1cm thick.

Really a fattening dessert, I finish ¾ of the ice-cream and half of the cake finished by Terry. We hugging a full tummy went to the bed (not so healthy actually). Terry not even asks for milk during bedtime, must be very full too...haha.

He is 3 !!!

TODAY - May 20th is Terry's 3rd time blowing candles. Times really passed by like a rocket and he no longer a small tiny baby sleep in my arm, at times I feel like getting old, when I can't run ahead of him. Now he is a big baby of mine, but I still enjoy smelling him, cuddle him and stroke him. We don't have special birthday dinner or family gathering. Daddy still prefer celebrate at home just 3 of us. A big ice-cream cake is waiting for us tonight. Here wishing my darling boy,

HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY !!!
" May God grace and mercy be with you all time and blessed you with good health and much more happy days. Daddy and mummy will continue to love you more and more. Terry, you are such an angel baby sent to our family and thanks for filling up this family with so much laughters, cheers and joy.
Sorry for the accident you met last year, mummy still feel so bad about it. We know those scar marks will be there forever, nothing we can do to change it. May God perform His almighty miracle on you to faded the scar away and you will slowly forget the bad happening. Daddy and mummy promise will continue to protect you and guide you with God's words and strive to give you the best for everything in your growing years. "
Last week (13/5), Mummy Moon arranged the pre-birthday outing for us to celebrate Terry's big 3. The boy was excited for what I'm telling him, where to go and who to met few days before. Mummy Moon and Yan Yan, 4 of us went to Mid Valley for lunch and let the kids play.

We reached there at 11.30am and lunch at Mc.D during the McValue hours. I'm giving permit to the boy to have kiddy meal set. This is also his first time having it all by himself (good reason to spoilt him. I know I'm such a strict parent here. I not even let him eat ice-cream before). Normally he just shared our fries and he can only eat very little. I love the kiddy meal now, it comes with cup corn and Ribena or Milo for drinks, no fries. The boy happily whack down all 4 pieces nuggets in speed, half cup corn and finish the drink.

We rented the Mid Valley (MV) strollers, so that they won't make fuss for long walking. Little that we not know, MV no longer having those kiddy cabby push ride for rent since 2 years ago and now they only provide free strollers. The 3 wheels stroller was not that good to push around and its heavy when wanted to make a turn. Also, it is not comfy type like those in Pavilion. The whole canvas seat only hold up with many press botton on both side. Sometime when we half way walking, the button will suddenly detach. I'm extremely tired after pushing it for few hours. A bit disappointed for a big mall not having such moving facilities for toddler.

We walked around checking out some kid's clothing and toys then brought them to play the slides in front of Toys'r'us. As plan we wanted to go MegaKids, thinking that those big tall slides and long tunnels slide may not so suitable for their age and not worth if only can play at limited small kid's area. (Note: Terry, mummy promise will sure bring you there one day when you grow taller and bigger). Kids are simply satisfied, both Yan and Terry played happily with few Little Tikes slides and houses in front of Toys'r'us.

Around 3.30pm, we went home with a small cake. It was heavy down pour that day, luckily it stopped when we leaving. This rain was the first rain after many many hot days. We dropped by Mummy Moon house for cake cutting. Terry loves cake a lot, when talk to him about Birthday, we will say "cake, cake". Thats our outing day, nothing much bought back, but happy for the gathering with mummy and kids. Thanks Mummy Moon & her brother for the nice presents.

Sales shopping

The mid-year sales season is starting; I began received SMS and newsletter from departmental store on great discount sales. Which ladies can resist not buying things during sales, especially Member Sales Day? Haha, last time I even take leave to shop on Isetan and Jusco 1st day member sales.

Last Friday (15/5) was Isetan Member Sales day, how much I missed it since being a SAHM. I always love to shop at Isetan KLCC. Normally I can get what I want with additional member discount. The 1st day Member Sales I have missed it for a few years, when comes to 2nd and 3rd onwards, normally things are getting less and hard to get the size I want. By then that is also the time I really hate to go shop.

Finally I got the chance to visit the 1st day sales. I went there with Mummy Moon together with my boy, happily shopped for 2 hours +. Luckily my boy was not making big fuss sitting on stroller, of cause I need to bribe him with sweets and toys. My shopping list for the day is mainly want to get clothes, shoe and milk bottles.

Early morning, I cooked the lunch and dinner together then quickly settle the laundry and house chores. After lunch, 2pm I off to pick up Mummy Moon and we went. Luckily it was no big jam near the KLCC parking area and we easily found a parking too.

It was Isetan KLCC 11th anniversary sales, many good things are on higher sales than usual. Ladies floor, Guess bag having 60% discount and many looks good. Children’s department sales up to 70% or counter wide 50%, really a good buy. These are the loots I managed to hunt back, with 20%-70% discount. I was so happy to spend less and get good things.

2 long sleeve tops, long pant, hat, underwear from Pumpkin Patch off 70%

Miki Kids pant off 50%, 2 Avent 9oz bottles and 2 pairs Avent teats off 20%

Osh Kosh B'gosh shoe (size US9) off 40%

Guess how much? the total I spend RM268.95 only for that lots of things (save RM380.75). I'm so satisfied for this roud shopping, especially the shoe. A real fruitful shopping day for the boy.

The Mother’s Day Weekend

Saturday, Wesak day holiday, we don’t have any special plan for the day. Hubby was not working and he of cause very treasure the off day as he can wake up late. For me, as usual, I got to do my marketing early in the morning. Came back, settle and clean the stuff bought, after lunch we all nap together. It was a freaking hot day. That whole afternoon, we stayed in the air-con room and nap till evening. The heat was really unbearable without air-con. We don’t used to sleep at night with air-con all these while, but now every night we can’t sleep without it.

Holiday also means my kitchen off. At night, we went out for dinner at Serdang for famous spicy soup at Restaurant Kien Kee. On the way there around 7.45pm, not sure anyone noticed the sky, the full moon was extraordinary big and bright! My boy was thrill looking at it and keep pointing at the big round moon.

Since it is Mother’s day weekend, we expected crowd in shopping mall and restaurant. Luckily it was not at this famous stall we went. But we still got to wait a lil longer for the food. The restaurant was not really full house, but can see almost all tables being occupied.

Spicy soup, Fah Teu chicken and Taufu

Kien Kee is famous for 2 of its signature dish - spicy soup and Fah Teu chicken. Other dishes are rice wine chicken, drunken prawn, white steam taufu and stir fried vege, that’s what they have only. This restaurant has been founded by Ho Chak! quite sometimes ago (judged from the color faded Ho Chak! sign). For using the tables in air-con room there will be RM2 extra charge. Food wise the charges is reasonable, RM8 /head for soup or chicken. The spicy soup is not made up with curry or chili; it is pepper soup cook with pork. For Fah Teu chicken also tastes a bit spicy but they cooked it till too black to my liking. Overall the foods are quite delicious and I whacked 2 bowls of rice with it.

Sunday, Mother’s day morning, as usual we went church (me and Terry only). I didn’t stay at the worship hall during sermon time. I brought the boy up to the Sunday school class to join the other elder kids study bible verses and later art time making mother’s day card.

Of cause the boy can’t sit still, he kept plays with Juin Peng (Terry’s best friend in church) and making noise. He was actually a bit too young for the class, but sometime I still put him in to let him get used of the learning environment.

During the art time, we colored the Mother’s Day card using thumb prints. He quite fascinate in doing it for the first time as the water color put on his small thumb and chop on the paper. With my help Terry managed to make his first Mother’s Day card ;)

Close up of my first Mother's day card
(Small thumb prints from Terry making the small flower, crawling worm and lady birds, other are mine)

Every year, church will give every mother a stalk of Carnation, prayer specially for mummy and cake cutting. Refreshment that day also a bit more than usual.

Back home, I was so tired and wanted to get a cat nap, but wanted to go bank and wish to check out Q Jelly, so off I went there and also shop at IOI Mall Daiso. 3rd times went to Daiso, finally this round I able to check out all the section. It was really lots of stuff there. Each item for RM5 is real worth for the Japan imported quality. I managed to get 2 photo frames, the quality is better than Ikea's one.

Back home around 4.30pm, we don’t have Mother’s day dinner. As usual, my mum still cooks for us and I bought her Q Jelly.

At night, we went for a Thanksgiving Concert at Palace of Golden Horse, as heard there will be top famous artists (those in my parent's era) from Taiwan. It was free entrance. I went together with them and thanks to hubby for taking care the boy at home.

Artist for the night - 邰正宵 (pic), 纪宝如 and 湯蘭花.

This Thanksgiving concert were held in conjunction of GoodTV launching in Malaysia. GoodTV is a channel 24 hours broadcasting Christian program from Taiwan. We can now watch it from DeTV - Malaysia first Internet TV bringing in all Taiwan Chinese program using broadband connection.

I believe it will be a hit in future for its low monthly subscription fee, no interruption during rainy day, 72 hours program repeat after the first show and the control of pause, fast forward, rewind, stop and bookmark your favorite show (so imagine those TV ads can be FF>> away, simply great!). I will consider signing up one soon, still need to find out how it work entirely.
Another Mother's Day gift from GoodTV

Not forget, my late wishes to all greatest mummies,

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY !!!

Coach Handbag

It was a dream come true, 5 months ago (sorry for posting it up late ~~ rather than not!), I finally own my very very first piece of luxury designer piece - a COACH handbag. The feeling - of cause I'm so happy (just like any kids getting the new toy) and very satisfied for getting what I truly love. I've been longing for a good bag since quite sometimes ago. At home, always hook up to Coach.com to check out bag design or admired the Coach bags window display at boutique and peep at the bag price, LOL!

How do I end up getting a Coach Bag? Since the last luxury warehouse sales giving me a damn big disappointment, I told myself I will get it one day from the boutique, walking in comfortably and choose the latest and newest bag design I like, without much looking at the price.

I was not really expected I will get my Coach at that time. During the last year end sales shopping, the only thing I want is a handbag. I was trying to look for other brand handbags too from branded to the departmental store one, walking up and down whole mall for few hours. None of them goes into my eye, either the bag design is not the one I like or the bag doesn't cost the price.

With so much disappointment and desperation for a good handbag after checking out in the mall and online. Finally, I walked into Coach boutique, KLCC (Novermber 30th, 2008) for the first time. I took a good time browsing all bags displayed on the shelf and trying to put on those I like. Finally I choose this Coach Soho Signature Hobo (12675) for RM1400.

Khaki Signature Sateen Fabric & Mahogany Leather Trim
Mahogany Leather shoulder strap with 7" Drop
Zip Top closure with Leather pull
Silver hardware with silver COACH tag and carriage key fob
One large interior zip pocket
Light tan inside lining
Two interior multifunction pockets
COACH leather Authenticity patch with serial number
Inside D-ring for keys or accessories
Approx Dimensions: 14" length X 10" Height X 3" width

It was exactly the expected bag design I want and this bag simply suit my personality. I grab it without any second thought! Once for all, I think this Coach bag can be use for the next 7-8 years time. I don't used to own many handbags, change one at a time and use the same for all occasion. My old MNG canvas handbag (RM89) has been used for at least 5 years time and wash for few times (quite old looking already), so it is time for something good and long lasting. Among the luxury designer brands, Coach is the cheapest and generally affordable one. I willing to spend on one good handbag rather than rotate bags or buy a wardrobe full of bags and not use them often. I know I won't go wrong getting that.

A handbag can be repeadily use everyday unlike clothing and fashion wear. So, handbag is worth to go for a luxury one. Coach changes its bag season rapidly, the new budget-friendly line - Poppy will be release in coming July. As its name suggests, Poppy is a fresher, more youthful collection than its parent line. This latest range will be release in boutique later. For those who interested, now you can get it online. Just a good deal for everyone, you can get hold of it with free shipping all the way from US to MYS from her (pls make your purchase before 10th May).

POPPY SIGNATURE SPOTLIGHT BAG ~ cheaper than my handbag

Oh Gosh~~!! gorgeous bag, I want this too! Another big carrier bag (not handbag, opps..) I'm looking for. There goes another item in my wish list.

All-in-one pot Chicken Rice

Are you bored with the regular fried chicken, curry chicken, black pepper chicken, herbs steam chicken or potato chicken stew to goes with rice? Yes, I am. When I get bored of it and out of idea what to cook with, I will make a quick and easy settle chicken rice.

I quite like the idea of settle-in-a-pot style cooking which require less time in preparing and cooking. One of the all-in-one-pot cook I usually do is Chicken Rice. I'm not sure what to call this style of cooking chicken rice, Chinese style or Cantonese style? Pls tell me in the end, if you know.

It is super very easy to prepare. It only takes around 20-30 minutes time preparing the ingredients and then put all in a rice cooker. When the rice cooked, it is all ready to be served. Let me share with you how to do it.

Ingredients: -

2 cups rice
2 chicken drumsticks
8 pieces whole mushroom small to medium size(soak, remove the tail and slice it)
5 pieces Garlic (chop fine)
3 Small Onions (chop fine)
Thumb size Ginger (smash it flat)
1 tblsp thick soya sauce

Preparing the chicken: -
  1. Cut the chicken into smaller pieces. If you want, can debone it or top up some chicken breast.
  2. Marinate the drumsticks for 30 min to 1 hour with salt, light soya sauce and pepper.
  3. Heat the wok with sesame oil (regular vege oil also can, use sesame oil more fragrant).
  4. Pour in garlic, small onions and ginger. Light stir fried it.
  5. Add in mushroom and chicken and continue stir fried it. Preferable can add in granules or chicken stock powder.
  6. Check: When the chicken meat* surface started to cook, add in thick soya sauce and mix well. *Do not need to fully cook the chicken.
  7. Lift up everything and put into rice cooker before the rice fully absorbs the water.
  8. Line the ingredients evenly on top of the rice.

In the rice cooker: -
  1. Wash the rice and put in 1 cm less of water than usual measurement (the chicken meat will release water when cooked).
  2. Put in the following ingredients and mix well,
    - Less to half teaspoon of Margarine
    - Less to half teaspoon of Salt
    - ½ teaspoon thick soya sauce
  3. Can always press 'Start' to cook the rice before stir fried the chicken.
When the rice cooker beep, it is all ready in a pot.
