Trip to Macau

Aikkss, I still haven't wrap up my trip story on Hong Kong and Macau. So better finish sharing it with you all before I forget, it was 3 months ago already since my last update.

21-Jan-2008 - This day we left Hong Kong and back to Macau, as the next day we depart from there. Wake up early in the morning and take sometimes shop for the last minute at Tsim Sha Tsui area only. Took our breakfast then walk down the entire Nathan Road from our hostel, all the way crossing Yau Ma Tei.

Fish noodle HK$32 (yummy)

Streets we came across

On the way, couldn't found many retail shops open at 10am. Hong Kong business hour is quite late. Shops will only open at 11am onwards and close between 10.30pm-11.30pm.

The morning traffic at TST

My target is to shop at Esprit and wait till they open at 11.30am. Then, quickly grab and go. Able to bought some at good price. Different Esprit store running different sales items. On the 1st and 3rd day of shopping, manage to get what I listed in my shopping list and quite satisfied already.

I didn't took lunch before broad on the ferry, just afraid that the series of vomit will happen again. Walk all the way from Tsim Sha Tsui to China Ferry Terminal and bought our ferry ticket. The earliest broading time 2pm is full and need to wait for 2 more hours for the next sail. After few round asking, the First Ferry counter able to offer us the Concessionary fare ticket for HK$128 each (the cheapest one).

First Ferry boarding gate

This time I choose the seat at the last row. It is good on day sailing as the sea wave not that strong and the ferry is smooth sailing without much going up and down.

Reach Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal in exactly an hour time, grab a map then took a taxi back to the hotel to put down our luggage before Macau touring.

We stay at East Asia Hotel, a 2 stars hotel in the town. Throughout my research on hotel stay in Macau, it is very extreme. Majority is 5, 6 stars hotels and hardly you can find budget hotel. Even if you get one, it is almost like a jail kind (very terrible condition). So, the one we booked, we still satisfied la..can't ask for more in Macau. HK$320 a night for 2 persons and very near to tourist spots. Vehicles are not allow to drive-thru the hotel doorstep. It is located at a very very narrow street with many other shops very close in between. We drop at the main road and walk 2 minutes to the hotel. So far so good for the hotel, although is a bit old fashion at the reception. Hotel room still looks good and quite comfortable.

Weather in Macau is a lil colder than before we left Hong Kong, around 14°C. The first place we went was the St. Paul Cathedral. On the way, we have quick brunch in a small restaurant and also tasting the famous pork bun.

Late lunch

Pork bun

Before we reach the Cathedral, bought some cookies and biscuit from Koi Kei Bakery (钜记饼家). Macau famous with its almond cookies. Along the street, lots of other famous food selling like dry pork meat slice and other types of biscuits.

Few steps away from here, we reach the Ruins of St. Paul. I believe this is the most famous spot among all, lots of people. It was like not came here means not being visit Macau before.

Later, proceed to Monte Fort, a hilltop to the east of the ruins of St. Paul. At the hilltop overlook the Macau town, there are old and modern building around this historical city.

View from hill top

Looking at the map is quite confuse, since we not quite sure, we ask the hotel receptionist to guide us to go some other places like Lisboa Casino and Venetian Macau. He advise us to take bus. So there we go we took a bus #3 (MOP$2.5) back to the Ferry terminal and inter-change to the Venetian hotel coach bus (FOC one). In the public bus, we round the town, everywhere is casino and big big grand hotel. Macau is totally an entertainment city.

Photobucket
Venetian coach bus

Broad on the Venetian Hotel bus and it tooks us to the hotel crossing the Macau-Taipa bridge and we reach the world famous Asian Las Vegas - The Venetian Macao. It is heavenly beautiful, like made of gold, huge and fantastic resort hotel having the world largest casino and Venice Grand Canal design shopping complex. It is all about super luxury and high class place.

Photobucket

We took the chance to play in the table gambling and manage to win a little bit. It is not so professional to play here. Very noisy, banker can chit-chatting with customer and as the bell ring for stop bet in between they still accept the last throw in chips. Overall the casino here looks quite empty, may be is the huge floor space and too many machines. We tour the whole casino and check out the toilet too.

Photobucket

Later, we proceed to the shopping area, there is a food court and a river with shops beside it just like San Luca canal.

We shop there for the last round in Esprit. As I said different Esprit outlet is having different item. Great that Esprit here having lots of Men's wear. So, hubby took his money won and shop all there. For me I also grab my last item there, a watch. We left there later, as the time is not early anymore and we need to go Lisboa too. So not much nice pic we have here and not enough time to go all shops. We broad on the coach bus again and back to the ferry terminal, took bus #3 again and go down near Lisboa hotel. We not sure which stand should we press the stop bell, so I just make a stop once I saw the Lisboa.

Photobucket

Casino Lisboa and the extention of the Grand Lisboa is just opposite each other. The lighting for this casino is pretty striking. It is another famous and popular casino and hotel in Macau. We not play there, just go in have a look and get free drink. To play here the minimum bet is HK$200. Here, very professional for banker and player. We just watch and walk around then we left.

We broad on the bus #3 again and drop near Senado Square to snap pics. Shops are all closed (already 11pm+), so nothing much can tour. On the way walk back to hotel, we have a late supper at a roadside stall for the stick food again.

Our supper

The night is never sleep in Macau because the casino is running 24 hours. The next morning we woke up early too to pack and broad on our 10.45am flight back to KUL. The morning weather is down to 13°C, we reach MFM airport very early even before the check-in counter open. So, we have our breakfast there.

Taxi with a small LCD screen on the back of the head rest

We spend all our HKD left in the pocket for our meal here. Thats all about it for my Hong Kong and Macau trip. Back with an empty pocket, a bag full of loots and happiness and great memory to be remember for the rest of my life. Not sure when is my next trip going to be. Hope it is real soon.

Fear of home insects

I remember last time when I was visiting my aunt who staying in a 9th floor flat, I seldom find mosquitoes, lizards, cockroach, ants, flies or any other crawling insects. Today, I'm living in a 10th floor height of apartment are getting all those mentions. I hate all of them.

I'm used to afraid of cockroach and kind of phobia too. Last time in parents home, manage to ask them to kill it whenever I saw them. Now, most of the time at home by own, I've overcome the fear to kill cockroaches (no one to depends on). But, I still feel very very geli. I will go chase and open up all area that saw them hiding then use spray and pat till it died flat, pick up it and flush away. Normally those cockroach able to reach my place are those flying cockroach and normally is bigger one.

Next the most is ants. It comes seasonal and everytime they appear different kind. Sometimes those ants are red one and sometimes those very tiny and run very fast. I have no problem killing them, just let them eat those ant killer powder (from China) and they will disappear in 3 days.

Lizard, I'm ok with them as they can help me to eat up those flying insects around at night. This round I found a hungry lizards appear at my kitchen top and shit everywhere. It is so disgusting and dirty. Just afraid if they did crawl up to my cutlery, cups or baby bottles. Without this I don't think I can easily catch and kill it.
This is a non-poison piece. When it open up, it has a very sticky surface. A hygenic way to use and very effective in catching flies, bugs, bees, house lizards or other insects. I got it from my mum, which told can get it from ironware tools shop. So, I placed it on the area where I saw the lizard wondering then place a piece of biscuit there. Stick flat on the kitchen top and few days later, caught this hungry lizard.
It couldn't run anymore. I think this is good to catch mouse too. Once my mum told me, a greedy cat wants to eat the food placed on top, end up the cat being stick on the paper and couldn't even struggle cause all four are on the paper.

So, what home insects you fear of and how you get rid of them?

Photo Hunters: Time

P1100745

It has been long I didn't send my parents any gift on their birthday or Parents' day. This round I finally can get something nice for them. It is a pair of couple watch.

Since they don't own any couple watch before, I'm sure this will definitely surprise them. It is not something very expensive, as long as it can tell the correct TIME, I hope they don't mind if it is a real Rolex or replica one.

That's my idea for the TIME theme on watches and clock.

I have such a feel....

....that my friend who will come to visit me and my boy tomorrow, will try to sell me something. Direct sales product and insurance are the two top common stuff to do personal approach. She is my secondary school friend and we have not meet for many year. All the while, we keep in touch through phone calls only.

Her last call to me was a casual chat about kids and she keep on mention that one day she wants to come for a visit as she never keep in touch and meet up with many old school friends since after she married. (She married at young age and having 3 kids now).

Of cause I'm glad to welcome her for a visit. Few days ago, she call up again and said she will be coming to my area for work tomorrow and today a SMS like a reminder said what time she will reach.

Hopefully is a casual visiting and chit-chat over a cup of coffee without any selling and trasaction. Will tell you what happen later..

Photo Hunters: Unique/funny signs

I would say this is a unique road sign in Hong Kong. These words wrote on tar road at the crossing junction without traffic light. A good reminder to pedestrian, to watch out before crossing a busy street.

Photo Hunters: Thirteen (13)

This is a wooden calendar I bought during my trip to Bali 3 years ago. Now this calendar blocks has been my boy's toy. The calendar date shows May 13th. Back in history, it is something happen to our city Kuala Lumpur.

On May 13, 1969, one of the worst racial riots in Malaysia took place in Kuala Lumpur. May 13 Incident was a riot between the Malays and the Chinese who were dissatisfied with the socio-political situation at the time. The riot resulted in the deaths of 196 people, and led to a major reform in the country's economic policy. ~ taken from Wikipedia

It is still a sensitive issue to brought up till today. I still remember when I was young, parents told us not to mention or open up to discuss about 513 in the public or we will get caught.

I like to shop...alone!

Last Sunday, I was staying at home with both men. It was so boring at home in the afternoon, since the elder man not wanted to go anywhere. He was so busy the whole day occupied the PC and laptop to do configure the ADSL router. So I went out myself to shop alone in Mid Valley. Let the man baby-sit and hope he has some bonding time alone with Terry. I took a cab there.

This speedy taxi driver zooms to Mid Valley in 20 min, very fast. I don’t have many things in my shopping list; just want to kill my time and boredom as I seldom can go out alone without tagging my boy. This round shopping mainly is to buy something for myself and check out some latest stuff. Since no sales around, so I don’t think I will spend a lot too..

Walking up and down and walk to where I want. Really so enjoy walking alone. Walk in and out some ladies boutique and when I’m come out from Icon Boutique, I saw many sales banners hanging at Samuel & Kevin shop. I quickly walk in and check what the great deals there. They are having clearance sales up to 60%-70% discount. Majority shirts and pants for men and ladies are on sales. I dig and dig, too bad all are left over size S tops for ladies and for men side still able to get the size I want, but also not much left. After 25 min there, spend RM 54 on 3 tops (2 for hubby and 1 for myself).
Continue to look for some kids wear and for myself too, can’t get any of I like. Mainly because no sales *roll eye*. So just look see.

My tummy already drum roll since I out of the house. Before I found something to eat I went to Swatch watch shop to buy a watch which all the while I wanted. Every time when I’m there with 2 men, I just couldn’t stay longer to choose and try. So, that day finally I can take my own sweet time to buy it.

The 3 hours plus walk in the mall, I’m not able to cover The Gardens. I just eat there only. Syiok myself with Pineapple fried rice at Rak Thai. Before head home, not forget to buy some food and necessity from Carrefour and Jusco.

Pineapple fried rice and Lemon grass drink (free). Taste so-so, not so filling...RM14.20

No queue at taxi lane, so I jump into one of empty cab and the taxi also speed zoom me home in 20 mins with extra RM2 charge (he requested). Guess what, when I reach home the man is still very busy in front of the computer and baby-sit Terry in front of the TV.

Time for Judelittle.com

Last week beside doing things in a slacking mode, I gear up my engine to work on my almost abandon domain. Since I've got a few templates downloaded and yet to give a change to my blog. But, I'm not doing that yet cause I don't know where to begin to do when want to change template.

Finally, my hardwork paid off, I discover it after a night work. I begin to work on it and get the template change immediately. I'm so happy for what I did. Later on, I felt the original header is not what I want. So, I begin to design something and find some scenery picture. My skill is just sucks when comes to design. Glad that Sasha offer her very kind help to put up a nice and bright header for me.
judelittle
Thank you very much, Sasha. I like it very much. If time allows I will try to come up with one later, but I don't have any idea now on how to design it. Header is the very first thing readers see, so I want to have something special. The blog title there is - Life Notes. It is basically record down what happens around me in my daily life as a SAHM with my lovely boy.

From now on I'm will be blogging at both side equally. I hope so...also hoping that I have more things to share (not only with "Vitamin M" posts). So, remember to continue visit Judelittle after you drop by here.

Many thanks!

My Bronchiolitis boy

The condition is not turn any better actually after yesterday check-up. This was our 4th week doctor visit and another new set of oral medication is carry on now. For the last week medication, his coughing is recover and now still left the phlegm and lungs problem. We not back to Pantai hospital this round, we continue the regular check-up at regular paed. We not sure changing doctor in that way is good for Terry or not. But, our intention is want to see what other doc gave in prescription and advises. For both side, the paed are giving almost the same medicine. Pantai one giving kind of strong medicine to him.

New set of med

Last week, at Pantai paed have done twice nebuliser with him and yesterday check-up shows that his lungs still have the wheezing sounds there and the condition is not show any recovery. I also gave him some chinese med, who told it is very good to clear the phlegm, but it not show any better too in get rid of the phlegm. Over the weekend, his nose got mucus and drys up around inside and outside his nose area. My early thought was, it is good to have mucus coming out from nose and it can be lighten the phlegm, it was wrong actually. Paed told that, it is not related at all. His mucus is because of his nose is sensitive now. Duh, develop another kind of sickness now!

Paed help him to suck out the mucus from his nostril. First attempt to the machine of cause struggle again. But, after it done, he is much better. His left nose having blood coming out when the suction going on, cause I hurt his nose when clearing his drys up inside. His bronchialitis condition is not so fast can get recover and now he is in KIV to use the inhaler (nebuliser) at home.

My heart really sank everytime bring him to check up and hearing all his lungs condition. It is a month time now Terry was on western med everyday. I started to get phobia feeding him med, not sure is Terry is getting sick eating it everyday. So far, he is not show any strong rejection towards the medicine and no big fuss happen too. For every mouth of med, I will accompany with a small piece of bread. In fact he is quite happy like that, cause he know he can eat bread when having med. When I mention to him is med time, he will point to the bread.

Yesterday, after back home from clinic. I was so sad and almost wanted to cry when checking those med. I was thinking, boy, how long he still need this. Why is this want to happen to him? He still a very small boy and taking medicine like more than rice now. While I was stroking his head, I told my darling, boy, you faster get recover ok? I really really hope that through oral medication can slowly recover without need to use any inhaler or puffer. Currently, one of his med is for asthmatic sickness. I also started to search on net for health information related to Bronchiolitis for toddler.

I pray hard to God for his speedy recovery. I don't want him to suffer anymore and we don't want to go clinic every week. I want back my healthy and happy Terry..

Condition need to be monitor...

Terry sickness is venture into the 3rd week. 2nd course of med is finish and still found his phlegm is there and breathing is not that good when coughing continously. Previously paed mention that his lungs was infected and causing the problem. After medication still can say not fully recovered.

Yesterday, we brought him to Pantai hospital Kid Specialist. Dr. Tan said he is having Bronchitis and cause the phlegm and cough problem still carry on. There are viruses infect the respiratory tract and attack the bronchial tubes. Thats why earlier on the first week, his regular paed said he is having flu mucus overflow in his lungs. Though he is having this problem, he was not down for fever and he have appetite to eat as usual, the only thing is cough and breathing part.

This paed is more detail in checking and hearing his lungs condition. She wants another round of 15 minutes sucking gas to open up the inflammation of the bronchial tubes. Terry is less struggle this round when having the treatment (he even sleep). His condition still need to be monitor and tomorrow there is another appointment back to paed for gas suction for check up of his lungs condition. 4 types of oral medication is given with an Antibiotics this time. Gas mask is carry along for his next treatment.
I should have treat his coughing problem seriously since more than 3 weeks ago. He was starting with coughing at night only and I only give him some kid's cough syrup from pharmacy. I only brought him to paed after 3 days when the condition is not show any better at night and so on the condition carry on to Bronchitis now.

For myself, after few rounds "leong sui" also no improvement too and the coughing is getting worst. I think for Terry's condition become serious, more or less can be the bacteria passed from me. Yesterday night, we both also see doctor. I'm having some coughing syrup and antibiotics.

This time is serious....

Terry was still in sick and visit his paed again. Thick thick phlegm and causing him have a bit breathing difficulty while coughing. Last week paed visit was about flu overflow in the lungs and causing his lung infected and cough. Finish his 3 bottles medicines, namely for flu, cough and phelgm, he was not fully recover thereafter. It was on Wednesday midnight, he was cough continously for 2 hours with thick phlegm in his throat. Making him couldn't sleep even he is very tired and sleepy. For daytime he was like short breath (phlegm is blocking) when he goes on a continue coughing. Once stop his face in red.

So, on Wednesday night, we visit our paed for the 2nd time. He said this time the cough is different. It was an infection. This sickness germs have been passing around actively over the week. That can clearly explain we 3 of us still haven't been recovering. Since his phelgm is thick paed suggested that he got to suck gas to clear the phlegm blocked in the lungs and throat.

There goes, it was his first horrible experience for the 5 minutes treatment. He used of his great energy try to escape in cry and shout. The clinic nurse hold on the sucking cap which put on his face, I hug him sitting on my lap, grap tight and hold tight his hand while daddy hold his kicking legs. He even bited the cap. When he breath in and out, he did throw out some phlegm throw out in white.

He was like being frighten after the treatment and looks very tired. Took 4 bottles med, this round and 2 types of phlegm med, cough and flu. It is slightly better now, but at night still very cough but less phelgm.

It was always like that, daytime less cough and while during we sleep the cough is really killing. I remember I read a health article before regarding our body clock. It says between 1am-2am is when our body works on clearning the toxical. Thats why we can develop more cough during we rest. For those in the recovering stage, if can, try not to have any cough syrup to stop the serious cough at night, let your body immune system fight for it.

For myself, I was still in cough and mild sore thraot too. It can happen in alternate day. Arggh...Have been drinking lots of 'leong sui' before really need to visit doctor again. I hope I can recover without taking much of cough syrups, cause it have not been helping to cure since.

With his 2 favourite toy now. Wants them day and night.

12th General Election

It has been an exciting year of having election. The vote for today is really determine our country future in many factors. The tsunami kind of one day change is really not expected by BN. I fully support the opposition, though I'm not a register voter (very regret for not doing so).

I'm so glad to see the result, where the DAP took all 5 main states and successfully occupied more than 2/3 seats in Parliment. Lets hope the new structure of government can lead well for the country and we really eager to see many tsunami changes too.

Back in my home, the result of Lembah Pantai and Kinrara win nicely, where Nurul Izzar Anwar and Teresa Kok having the majority. I'm so proud and happy for their winning. The polling result night I stayed up to 3.30pm. The votes result really keep us exciting. My cousin who is local chinese newspaper reporter watching the vote counting night. Those places where having DAP majority, the BN votes has been keep counted repeatedly, just to confirm they don't left out any. Thats why many places the result is not out on the same night.

Over the weekend, everybody talks about election results. For me, who was not really keen on politics issues begin to read more about it and concern more about the changes to parti and ministers. Womans talk also involve in politics. Well, voters are not blind, we know what our future want. The result has pretty shows that we Malaysian have the same way of thinking to see changes now.

Nothing is more happy than those who stay in Penang. The new Chief Minister, YB Lim Guan Eng keep on pouring all the good news to them, whereby those promises are now being carry out. Hopefully the new leaders everywhere will give a good start in shaping a new clean government for a better future.

Before I end this post, Teresa Kok have started to do some changes to the road name signboard.
